OK i am new to all these new machines and need more help got a coil from Whites for trashy areas and now i am reading about these dd coils can someone tell me what the different coils are for my mxt 300 I have a 12inch and a 9x5 and now this small one for trashy areas will a dd coil help me also ?
It really depends on our soil conditions and your personal preference: Your post says you have a 9 X 5 are you meaning the 9.5 standard coil for the MXT? Also you say you have a small one for trashy areas, well with what you say you have I could only recommend one or two coils. My favorite coil that I use 75% of the time is the 6 X 10 DD Eclipse this coil provides better rejection of extreme ground conditions. And another coil I like too use is the 4.5 X 7 EXcelerator DD its a small coil for trashy areas but I found it does go deeper then the Whites 4 X 6 Eclipse DD. So it really just depends on your own preference and the type of hunting you are going to do.
yes it is a 9.5 the small coil is a whites Eclipse 5.3 is this a dd coil dint know what DD is I hunt parks and beaches and lakes here in new Hampshire. Thanks for the help
I think maybe the 6 X 10 DD would be the best coil to complete your arsenal, its a good coil for beaches and for prospecting gold. It will pick up gold and silver jewelry real well in the salty beach areas.
Neither the 5.3 or 9.5 are DD coils. They are concentric coils. The concentric coils are deeper in non or low mineral soil. The DD start to shine as the minerals go up. Jeff just did a test and the 10"DD out did the 12" concentric at a ground reading of 5. If the ground was less mineralized the 12" concentric was deeper. Using Jeff Foster method of determining the ground content mine is usually a 5 . That is why I do so much better with my 10" DD. Don't get any coils until you know what you need.
