DD coil for the ACE

rob

Member
Is there a DD coil out there for the ACE machines?

What are all of the choices for the ACE when it comes to coils?

Thanks,

Rob

You can find all the info about the coils on the Garrett web site. There are currently 3 coils for it. The 12" coil, the standard coil, and the 4.5" small coil. As for a DD there is not one avalable that I know of.

I don't think a DD is available yet but I look for one. Right now the coils available are the Sniper and the 12-incher, both which are great for their respective purposes.

might sound stupid but what is a dd coil thinking of getting an ace 250 for the wife an upgrading my gta 500 to to a gti 2500

The coil is made up of 2 D shaped coils in one coil that looks like 2 Ds back to back. The advantage to DD coils is the narrow detecting field in the center of the coil and the field runs the full length of the coil instead of the V shaped field you get with the round coils theirfore you get a uniform depth over the whole coil and not just the center of the round coils, giving you better coverage. You can cover more ground by not having to do half coil advancement steps you can do full coil advancements and still get better coverage. I hope this helps you instead of confusing you more.

A DD is often referred to as a wide scan. The DD stands not only for the initials of the inventor but the winding configuration which consists of two letter D's back to back with the spines of the D's overlapped. This area produces the signal the full length of the coil and about 2-3 inches wide in the center of the coil so that you have full coverage from one end of the coil to the other.

These coils are designed to penetrate highly mineralized ground and to cover lots of area. THey are for prospecting, nuggetshooting, relic hunting, saltwater hunting, coinshooting. They do not perform or discriminate as well as a concentric coil.

I Asked this same question to Kellyco and got an email back about 4 weeks ago saying that their is a 10 by 14 DD available. I presume she was referring to the one for the 1350. Has anybody tried this, or is it just pie in the sky?

Don't buy everything Kellyco tells you, depending on who you talk to. They got some real dummies working there.
