DD coil for MXT

azdigger

New member
I just ordered a DD 6x10 Coil for the MXT, any comments on settings or any other info that I might use.
I want it for hunting meteorites and gold. I have a 4x6 but it is too small to cover a lot of desert looking for meteorites and it seems quiet when I pass over one.
Thanks

I use mine for relic hunting junky camps. I hunt mainly in good ground so I can't comment on it's use in highly mineralized ground but being a DD-coil it should be pretty good. I have a nice established test bed in the woods where I live. This coil picks up a bullet at 10" with a repeatable signal in both directions. Now the signal isn't knocking my headphones off but it is there. Separation on trash is good. I have another spot where I have a two-inch cut nail and an eagle button four inches apart down seven inches in the ground. Picks up the eagle button without a problem. Most machines I have with bigger heads will just read the iron an ignore the eagle buton, except for my MXT. Hope this helps!

What GENERAL area you hunt in as I am retiring Jan 31 07 and I think I would like to give both of what you hunt for a Shot--I know there is somewhere in Southern Az. that has Gold---Where Do You Go For Meteorite's--If I do go I would not mind hunting with some one who knows what they are doing to give me some hints on how to find Both

I hunt for Meteorites at Franconia and that is between Kingman AZ and Needles Cailifornia off of I-40...then in the other direction I hunt for gold in Gold Basin. Both areas are about 50 mile from my house as I live in Kingman AZ....
There is a DVD offered on Ebay right now that tells about what a new hunter would need to know for hunting Franconia. Look under Item number: 160070494174 and that should help....I know a couple of the folks that made this DVD, in fact Jim Smaller has guided me a couple of times that made it possible for me to find my first one.
Hopr that info helps, as far as gold goes, do a google search for Mohave county gold and it should have info on Gold Basin.
Oh yeah, Gold Basin is only a couple of hours away from Las Vegas Too.
Happy hunting
