DD 11 inch stock coil gone bad?

skyblast

New member
I've only had my E-Trac now for 6 months and already my 11 in. DD has gone bad. When I turn my machine on it absolutely goes nuts with signals. When I swap it out for my sunray x-5 sniper coil it sounds perfect.

I've gone over both the coil cover and the coil itself with a fine tooth comb looking for specks of dirt but nothing seems to work. What now? I certainly hope minelab will do their best to fix it? Maybe they will say it was me?

One thing that I have always noticed is the angle of the wire where it comes from the coil. It seems to be an obvious stress point as it is the beginning of where the wire starts to wrap around the shaft. Maybe the wire had been wrapped too tight?

Have any of you experienced issues with their stock coil? Thanks.

I am very sad and a bit stressed. It's now summer and I use my E-Trac a ton.

This is where I need to send it correct? Anything else I should know or try first before sending the coil in?

Minelab Customer Care# 1-877-767-6522 give them a call first before you send it in. The coil is under warranty for 1 year maybe longer on the E-Trac. I have'nt had a coil problem ever from a Minelab or Sun-Ray but I know it happens. They will take care of you don't believe everything you read on these web-sites. Good luck and keep us posted. Mine developed cracks in the coil and I e-mailed my dealer on Saturday he got back to me right away, he called Minelab Monday and on Wednesday I had my new coil delivered to me, all I had to do is put old coil in the box put on the call tag and drop it off at a ups pickup place...easy, effective and very satisfying!

My stock coil went all crazy on me a few weeks ago. I did the same thing. Checked the coil. Cleaned it. Noise canceled. Reduced sensitivity etc. Tested with another coil and it worked fine.

I called customer service and they emailed to me a shipping label. I shipped it to them and they sent me a new one in about 2 weeks. No fuss no muss. Very quick turn around.

Sweet thanks all for your kind responses. I called today and left a message. I guess I'll be learning how to use my sniper coil a bit better.

I wonder what caused it to go bad unto the first place?
