I got permission to search this old homestead with my GTI-2500 and did not find the first coin. It is so full of nails and metal trash, I have decided to buy a sniper coil. I am thinking of buying the ace-250 with regular coil and sniper coil. That way I don't have to change the coil so much on the 2500 and I will have a spare unit as well. The inside of the house was filled with some type of animal feed at one time and even tho I got a good signal from the fireplace, I could not find anything. The inside is really not safe. When I tried to use the custom setting to avoid detection of nails around the outside of the house, it did not seem to work. My pinpointing is right on due to quite a bit of practice, but the depth doesn't seem right. The imaging will show 4 inches, but the voice will say 12 inches. when I did a target, even tho it is where I pinpoint it, it's always much deeper than the imaging says it is. Case in point, I scanned a target that says 2 inches after pinpointing to shallowest depth, but the 1964D Penney was at 8 inches. The GTA at top will show shallow depth also, but the target is always deeper. Another thing I tried is taping up the coil cable at about 12 inches as advised and got a constant signal and had to go back to the wrap around from the start of the coil to the detector unit. I believe I have used this unit enough to be more productive, but either it's me or the machine. I usually blame myself and hope some of you more experienced folks can help me out.

If you get the sniper coil, I'll get the low shaft also, it makes the change quick and easy:thumbup:

Not quite sure I understand your dilemma but the imaging feature is limited to about six inches or so. The tiny coil in the center of the main coil is the imaging receiver coil and it's only about two inches or so in diameter.

Bill.

Bill, my main problem is the depth is off. Could this be from interference from other metal. I lock on to a good target, pinpoint it at supposedly 2 or 2 inches deep and when I dig the target, it's 7 or 8 inches deep. The target is pinpointed correctly, because I find it, but it's just a lot deeper than the imaging shows it
to be. Also, when I try to use custom feature to eliminate trash at 2-4 inches deep, my coil still picks up nails at 2 inches or so deep with surface elimination on?

Bill

I assume this applies to the 1500 as well...
so if iget a good signal at say 8 inhces and it reads B
size..it may or may not be a coin right???

Thanks as usaul
