It's a blast being able to drive on the beach. Unfortunately the beaches were really hard hit when Katrina went by to the south. We lost a bunch of hard packed white sand. Lately deposits of coquina (red/shell) sand has built back up. That stuff is SOFT!!!! It doesn't compact at all and even walking on it you will sink to your ankles. It's becoming a local pass-time to watch the tourists trying to get their cars unstuck. I think I'll open up a shovel rental stand. ;-) I might even rent out my detector so they can find their cars.

PS: I wonder what settings I will have to use to discriminate out the economy cars & focus on the high buck ones?

Does your detector have an luxury tax setting? That oughta do it.LOL,I remember seeing old pics of cars racing at Daytona, musta been a blast!Maybe next storm will take all the red stuff back, but then what would you watch?

Well, I guess that I would have to watch the thongs, er, I mean throngs of people..........
;-)

Hi David,
See how we do things down here? Now all we need is a "Lost Gold" report !!!!

Anyway, come on down, bring all that Surf Pirate gold with you (and leave it here) & I'll let you take all the lighters that I'm finding for Ina back with you........

I went to the beach afterwork just for a looksee. Tammy had just past us by. There is a lot of erosion on dunes that weren't protected by a seawall. Seaweed and flotsam was halfway up the walkways to the beach. Lots of sand build up past the high tide line. I did see where someone had gridded the beach but there wasn't any digging marks/holes to speak of. I don't believe anyone has found anything to speak of in quite awhile. It seems that pretty much everything has shut down since Katrina.

Oh Surf God, why hast thou forsaken me??????????????

I was hoping Tammy was gonna clear the path for ya Pip...... Maybe that other storm forming in the Gulf will clear ya out since it's coming from the other direction. As for me,my reservations are made, and the last weather check shows rain every day all next week :veryangry: Earlier in week it was only 3 days.Hopefully the flight will be okay,as far as the rest of the week, well,I'll be on the beach, instead of here,so I'll count my blessings:D.Glad I bought a CZ-20 now.Think I'm gonna love this hobby !!!:detecting:
