Another day, another park, another lesson learned.
Today i hunted a site with less iron infestation but definately has it's share and due to the size of this park there were areas with less modern trash and was able to open up the sensitivity for the chance at some deeper targets as long as i didn't get too close to the Amtrak lines My favorite features on the F2 are the very quick recovery speed along with the easily discernible 4 tone ID. It also appears the F2 is very sensitive and will hit on very small pieces of foil along with tiny bits of canslaw thats easily noticed when using 0 disc.
Started out using the 4" coil with the sole purpose of finding some older coins mixed with modern trash as i knew this park has the potential to produce something pre 65 at relatively shallow depths but the target masking is horrendous and most of the easy pickins are long gone. The F2 kicked out 4 more wheats at depths between 2" to 4" and most gave an initial hightone with obvious masking that produced some doubts but if the hightone/zinc repeated at two sweep angles and didn't revert to 07 or 08 i dug. Thumbs up here..for excellent target separation.
About 2 hrs into this venture i switched over to the 8" concentric attempting to make some deeper finds which happened but a 60's memorial penny about 5" was the deepest keeper at a large open area with less compacted soil. It seems the F2 is capable of more depth due to signal strength and accuracy of the hightone id at 5" .My digger is marked at 1" increments to determine depth approximations .
So far found over $9 in clad and a pile of junk along with confidence the F2 is capable of more and should be one of the easiest detectors to get your money back with even minimal success. Just some thoughts from day two. HH Bill
