DAY TWO WITH THE 250 IM LEARNING TO LOVE

New member
day 2 with the 250,..only had about 30 mins of daylight and this is what has come out of the ground...i cannot wait till this weekend!!!!
if some one could help with some advice on when to use the diffrent modes?? i have acess to a house that was built in the late 1800s an im planning on going there ... around my house im trying to experiment between them and i noticed that in the all metal mode it goes crazy sometimes and i will dig it and nothing will be there .. so i stand up to scan again and it will not make a sound.....thanks for the support !!

It sounds like you have the sensitivity too high and your detector is falsing. Because if your in all metal and get a beep then when you open th the ground you should still get a beep. On the other hand if you in another mode and your beeps goes away then your detector has discriminated your target after you disturbed the ground. If you have time and your at a new site and not relic hunting I would suggest the jewelry mode. Then after several targets you may find the need to disc out a notch or two. If I don't have much time I run in the coin mode.

did you check the plug or dirt you had removed? I had it happen when on a playground with mulch. I kept chasing the signal and finally found it with my pinpointer. It looks like the shape of the outline of the eyelids of an eye. You could probably put 8 or ten on a dime. I'll try to post up a pic sometime but I'm about ready to fall asleep here.

Since you're new stay out of All Metal mode. Hunt in coins mode for about 100 hours and keep your sensitivity down to four bars. Also tape or velcro your cable straigh up the shaft for about a foot.

Bill's right. Also for now just dig repeatable signals. When you get a beep pinpoint the target. Then sweep the coil centered directly over your target. Now sweep the target with 4 inch sweeps. Basically a wiggle. If you still get a consistent beep then dig.
