On this day Nancy decided to go to the mall with Sharon and let us hunt without her. Our troops today were made up of Vernon and two of his young ladies Leanne and Sarah. We met up with Mountain Man, or Greg if I want to type less and call him by his name.
The first stop on our hunt was at the field of the killers moo cows. We had done well here so we hit it again. If you remember Vernon's post about his girls, this is the field whre it took Sarah 12 minutes to find a Union button on her first relic hunt. Those girls all have soo much talent at so many things it is almost scarey!
Vernon and his girls went to the left flank this time while Greg and I took the right.

It was not long until I had found another bullet. I you can believe it, I had almost got used to digging these wonderful things. I had stopped taking pictures of them in the hole, and put this one up on the plug so you could see what a nice fresh bullet looks like. I found several more here that I failed to even take pictures of.![Shrug  ](https://www.findmall.com/styles/smileys/shrug.gif)

Greg was working along the slope with me and coaching me as we went. After he checked out one of my finds we shut the detectors off and talked for about 5 minutes. I think he wanted to know if I was a real relic hunter or just a nut with a detector. He asked me what I thought of relic hunting. I replied. "There is nothing like being the first person to see and hold in your hand, something that was last touched by a soldier over 150 year ago. It does not matter how much a find like that is worth because I would never sell anything like that, it is priceless." He grinned and said, "Yep, your ARE a relic hunter!" That was a great compliment coming from a man who knows so much about history and has dug enough relics to pop the tires on most trucks,
Everyone did well at this site with some fantastic finds, but Leanne had still not found her bullet. She kept saying "I want a white bullet". Greg wanted us to go over to another site where he felt we could do even better, so we loaded up and drove a little more.

When we arrived at the new site Greg took the girls over to a spot where he felt the girls could find that bullet Leanne wanted so badly. He is the kind of guy that has more fun watching you find stuff than finding it himself. A true gentleman. Under his guidence Leanne found two bullets shortly after this picture was taken. We all enjoyed that very much. Again, "Thank you Greg for making that happen!"

In an attempt to make my bullet pictures more interesting, I took this finds class picture with it on the handle of a digging shovel against the sky. I am not and artist, (As Vernon pointed out to me when I came to breakfast in a bright blue shirt with a bright green coat.
) but I like it. And hey, another bullet!

We worked our way across the field and into another area where we would all find good stuff before the day was over. In the woods that are in the background is an old cemetery and a stone chimney from colonial times that I checked out before we left the site. It did start to rain and cut the hunt off before we were really ready to go. No one went home emptyhanded from this site. I wish I had photos of everyones find to post, but I don't. I will post what I came away with.

I had a great day, four minnnie balls, a fired pistol round ball, a percussion cap, and two spencer carbine shell case heads are arranged in this photo Vernon had taken that night and sent to me last night. Another day, another bunch of dream hunting that I will never forget! More later, DC
