Day started HORRIBLE.. Slowly got a little better!

Well.. lets just say that the start of my day was pretty aggravating! I got up this morning packed up my E-trac and headed out to go see my Dad in Indiana... I decided to take the long way because i wanted to stop and hunt a couple spots I haven't been in a long time.. Well they say bad things happen in groups of three.. The first things... While heading to the first site I was talking with Jim on the phone.. About setting and other things, then all of a sudden i realize i have been driving on the wrong road heading in the wrong direction for about 20 minutes. I got on the interstate then got back on a side road and started heading the right way.. On the way into town i decided to stop by and see any old friend.. On the way to his house i passed an elementary school that looked like a beautiful hunting site.. OLD OLD building... Beautiful old trees out front.. huge yard.. Everything about it looked awesome! it had a newer sign out front that said "~~~~" elementary school. I thought for sure it looked like public school.. I passed it and heading on down to my buddies house.. I was almost there when the dang steering wheel started shaking and the car was going THUMP THUMP THUMP.... I pulled over and got out and sure enough I had a freaking flat tire... :veryangry: I got it switched out quick and headed to my buddies house.. When i left i went right to that school yard.. I got out walked like three feet.. I got a repeatable signal from one direction.. but when you turned it was really broken. It sounded so good and smooth the one way I was definitely digging... I dug down and and right away pulled a nail from the hole.. a little aggravated i investigated the hole a little more with the probe and perked right up the I got a nice little scream through the phones  Right from under the nail i pulled out a nice green wheaty.. I covered the hole and started to detect more.. 8 feet from the hole I got a SCREAM from about 8 inches.. First thing that came to mind was silver.. I got down pulled out the digger and opened up the plug... As soon as i lifted the plug up, a front end of a Cadillac Escalade was right in my face.. I looked up and this old man was staring me down.. I pulled of the phones and said hello.. The old man said.. I have to ask.. Why are you digging holes in my yard?? I kinda stuttered a little not knowing I was trespassing.. I asked,, Isn't this a school??? He said yes but i own it.. I apologized really fast and covered the hole back up and said ill leave now.. He actually was really nice.. He just told me that people in the past with detectors had really messed up the yard and he didn't want it happening any more.. Then he told me a little about the building and apparently it still is a school.. But a private school where they take troubled kids and try to help them out.. I just kept on apologizing, i felt really bad about going on his land... I just still would like to know what that screaming signal was that i never got to investigate :rage: But to make a really long story short.. I left.. went and spent some hours with Dad.. Then on the way back home i stopped at a little park in the same town as that old school... I hunted it one other time with the SE.. I only was able to pull a couple wheat last year.. But the big E sniffed out some goodies this time  I was able to pull a couple more wheats.. a WORN out 17 silver merc. IT was actually in the hole with the pointy thing and stuck me pretty good.. But my favorite item of the day is a Ford thirty years of service token.. 1903 to 1933.. the thing is pretty sweet!!! Well thanks for looking everyone.. HAPPY FATHERS DAY :)

Oh and the token said Thirty Years of Progress.. Not service... My mistake

What a day! Good thing there wasn't thunderstorms nearby, I'm sure you would have been struck by lightning! Good finds.

great finds bud, glad things turned out ok, I am surprised you did not ask him to at least let you recover the target you were digging!

Thanks for the story and the pictures Derrell! Glad you were able to get some hunting in!!

Thanks everyone.. And I wanted to ask him so bad.. I just had the feeling that he was the kinda of person that would have tried to keep whatever it was. He was a nice guy.. But only after I was willing to leave with no hassle. When he first came up on me I could definitely see some tension on his face and hear it in his voice lol

Great day, a friend of mine found a ford token exactly like that last year. Congrats!
