Day out searching:ausflag:

Mate and I had a day out yesterday looking over some old gold diggings adjacent to a river. Only find was a modern $2 coin but I did get up close woth one of the locals.

At least you were able to get out detecting today, some of us were stuck in work. :(

Nice photos Ken! Is that a gold mine shaft filled in, 3rd photo down? Nice to see familiar looking bush photos! Been out diving over the weekend and found a heap of coins, a few pennys, a silver ingot and a gold ring. Not bad for a tank of air eh?:)

Sounds like you had a good time. It's not a shaft, just some an alluvial digging. There are a few shafts in this spot but most is alluvial covering a few acres in the bend of a river. Got to be a camp nearby, just have to go back and have another look.

Well you little "rascal" you!!!! How deep water, did you find the gold ring in??? I know you might need to be careful not to give away too many "trade" secrets, but I'm certainly curious what you've been doing under the water with that "bad boy" Excalibur of yours and Gary's. Remember that guy a few years back who developed an underwater housing for the Explorer. From the pictures it looked pretty darn solid, but boy, I'd sure want to know more about any testing of it and such, before I'd take my Quatro underwater completely, but again, just food for thought. The "pics" were probably on the Explorer section on this forum a few years ago or so. Marc.
