day at the beach

Hello all, Had my first day at the Beach today With my bounty hunter QD ll, and had a blast! was bummed to see how much beach erosion there was !! WOW.. just unreal !!! anyway I found a metal ball all rusted and I think it's an old musket ball? since I was on a beach that is close to an old fort... but how do I know? any suggestions? anything would be very helpful.. thanks and HH
Cheers, Kodiak

Bullets are mostly made of lead, so having a rusty one makes me think it could be a small encrusted bell. Possibly from a horse harness or similar, even a cats bell from a collar. I would clean it up with a wire brush or similar and have a good look at it. I hope it's something unique and valuable! HH regards Nugget.:detecting:

Just put it over a torch and if it melts, it WAS a musket ball....Just Kidding...I also would think it was a bell, or a ball bearing that was modern...If the corrosion is white, it could still be lead, but if it is rust colored, it is iron...Cannot think of anything besides a bell, or a bearing that It could be if not a bullet...???
