Yesterday my buddy Joe picked me up and we drove to the finished potato field just plowed 12 inches deep Joe is long member also of the ADT like me , our first finds was funny he was about 6 rows from me when i found my LC i stood up and looked over at him he also found a LC at the same time we both were holding up our LC,s lol, total for 3 days was 3 LC,s 1806 1808 and 1842 mostly fried but we will take them , Joe was using his silver killer E-Trac but neither of us hit any silver in 3 days ? strange , me the GT i put my S-12 coil on yesterday much deeper finds i hit a solid copper bike bell or a wheel hub early 1900,s maybe, last year was the same find and a bike bell for sure i took a photo to compare today , also lots of buttons a few more coins a musket ball and many flat buttons and lots of iron yesterday but the GT handled it well i dug 5 iron just to see sure enough it was iron , We are going back soon when more fields open up . Great finds! Love finding those large cents. I've never really hunted any plowed fields but plan to as I see some guys make great finds year after year in the same fields. You figure farmers spent much of their days out in the fields along with their farm hands, and based on the kind of work activity involved there is a real good potential for coins and other good finds. Another great thing about farm fields is they are plowed year after year so they are always changing the depth of things, not to mention it'd be almost impossible for somebody to grid an entire field without missing a lot of vast areas of one.

Nice job on the LC's. I've only heard of one found in my part of MN. It would be a cool find.

Early travelers carried LC,s all over the country just about all the Penny's where minted in Penn. from 1793 to 1857 which means 64 years worth iam sure there is plenty where you are Gary keep looking . HH Jim
