Day 2 in Virginia...........

The finds were hard to come by and it rained most of the day. I did get a small carved bullet, a suspender buckle, a 3 ringer, a rivet with leather still attached, a neat police button, and an old pewter doo-dad with an eagle on it. The chicken neck eagle is likely pre Civil War.

As you can see the sides had been folded over.

At least you got some goods for the day. I have a bunch of eagle buttons that have been flattened, bent, etc. Wonder if there's any way to make them right again. Dont think so, Steve in so az
 
There is a guy that can fix almost any CW relic.

As with any hunting some deep and some shallow. But several were very deep! Some over 12" deep. It is not uncommon for the Explorer to pick up brass or other relics at 15 or 18 inches.
