Day 1 with my E-trac report:shrug:

:minelab:Ok it has been a couple of weeks since I bought it and I finally got it out today. Beach hunting on what could be the hottest day of the year so far at Hampton Beach N.H.! I will be honest my arm got tired pretty quickly and my digging tool put a hurting on me too. Need to get me one of those fancy beach digging tools but over $150 is kind of steep for now. I am going to make me one of the Cyclone/Shovel tools from a video I found online. I already ordered the shovel from Ace Hardware. I could not get the actual Cyclone shovel because it is made in Australia. As far as my first day I lasted over and hour and then the heat kicked in. I plan on heading out later this evening when it all cools down and the tourists are mostly gone.
All I used was Coin mode or beach mode and am trying to learn the tones. Looking forward to getting some helpful advice.
:beers:

Congrats Danbo! Not bad for a first time out. Keep plugging away at it. Look forward to seeing your finds and hearing your progress.

Danbo....first FBS machine? It can be a bit intimidating. If you put in the time to get to know it you will feel a great sense of satisfaction later on. Like with ANY machine. The biggest thing I had to overcome was being able to distinguish a true "good hit" from an iron false. Once you become able to listen to the QUALITY of the signal and tell those two apart...your hunting will fall right into place. Remember what you are hearing. To help with this, use the 3-S rule...Size...Shape...Sound. Learn to "qualify" the target before you even dig it up. You can chase really sketchy stuff later if you want. In my relatively short 3 year experience with FBS, if it sounds like junk and acts like junk....the VAST majority of the time that's just what it is.
