I only had a couple hours to detect today, so I hit an old yard here in town. I used both my 705 with the 6-inch DD and my Etrac with the Joey coil. Seemed to do pretty well with both of them. In total, I found 31 pieces of clad or memorials, three square trade tokens, two silver dimes, a few early Wheats and four IH cents. Oh, and a pouch full of copper rivots, some wire, two rifle casings and four or five chunks of lead. I hadn't hunted a private yard for so long I had forgotten how nice the IH cents come out, compared to those exposed to farm chemicals in the fields I typically hunt. The three square tokens were all from the same local merchantile store that's been gone since the early 1900's. The large round token had my blood pumping for a minute as I thought I'd hit another Silver dollar. Instead it is a Declaration of Independence Dollar from the Worlds Columbian Exposition held in Chicago, 1892 - 1893. The engravings commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Discovery of America and landing of the Pilgrims. All in all it was a great day to be detecting. And finding a few keepers made it even better. HH Randy

Here is what the Declaraion of Independence Dollar would have looked like new:[attachment 157612 HK156_obvBL.jpg] [attachment 157611 HK156_revBL.jpg]

Wow :clapping: Digger,

Great finds...no- fantastic finds, especially for just a couple of hours.
What is that big old 1892-3 Independence dollar made out of ? is it silver ?
Very nice even if it's not.
Whats the rarity of that ?
...err- sorry for all the questions.
Congrats.

Congrats on the very good hunt Digger. I like the square tokens and silver! The Independence Dollar is very cool! I like that kind of stuff different and unique, Beale.

Well done Randy!
Some neat finds there.
Isn't it great to feel the sun on your back after a long winter?
Had that feeling two Sundays ago...for a brief few seconds the sun warmed my back...just as I sat back and admired a nice find with my E Trac.
Still haven't taken off the outer layers though...even had a snow / sleet shower an hour ago!

Good Hunting

HH - Hawkeye Jim.

Looks like you started the season with a bang! Nice bunch of of finds the Indian heads seam to be in good shape and the tokens are pretty neat the Declaration of Independence Dollar is a great part of history.WTG

Thanks. The World's Fair token is not silver. Wish it was though! It appears to be pewter, but all I can find online is that they were made of "white metal". HH Randy

All three tokens do have the name of the store and the town on the reverse side. I didn't post a pic of that side due to it being my hometown. HH Randy

No problem...........I was just curious, as sometimes we find tokens that don't have the town listed and then you wonder where in the heck that did that come from...............jim.

Digger,

Those are some damn fine finds! I seldom find anything cool like tokens around the old farm house sites I hunt.
