Here is a link that works well on silver

http://gometaldetecting.com/electrolysis_coins.htm

Ues a 12 volt - 15 volt transformer ( from cell phone or battery charger etc.)

cut the ends and put stainless aligator clips on the ends

8 oz. glass of cold water and 1 tps baking soda or(salt and couple drops of lemon jucie)

Attach one clip to a stainless steel spoon and the end clip to the coin/ring)

use a close pin or bag clip to keep the cion and clip suspended in the water

5 min. - if the spoon bubbles more than the coin/ring switch the aligator clips (they are reversed)

Chemicals? - I use Wrights Silver Cream to polish

First put the cream on a rag and buff

then polish with the foam insert.

the rag will turn black

Copper and Nickle dosen't work so well -
