DANGER DANGER DANGER! Aw Mate! We went on a hike into the outback to catch us a painted turtle....

Sharon was wanting one to show the kids in school where she works next week. We were then going to let it go, as we have several before.

The girls spread out along the pond, keeping their eyes peeled for a small turtle.

Here's one Mom! One of the girls spotted a turtle under the leaves; Sharon scooped it up with the net... oops, wrong turtle! This is a baby snapper, and none too happy about being captured.

Katie was wanting to pick him up, but I told her that the turtle would bite her and not let go. I then put a stick in front of his face about the size of a pencil, which he quickly latched on to. I was surprised at his strength, and pulled his head out nearly 4" from his shell before he'd let go. Cute little devil, aint he. (Later shotgun fodder.)

Here's the little bloke we're looking for! A painted turtle. Sharon thinks its one of our past pets because it swam right up to her, and she easily netted it. This is after she missed one and ended up nearly up to her waist in the water. All animals are captured by professionals with years of honed experience. Please do not try this at your own pond!
