Back in the middle of March 2010, I took a picture of an old beer joint located just outside of San Antonio, the old Pancho Villa Lounge on Texas FM 1316. I was told that this old ice house had a bad reputation, fights and killings, a hang out for a gang, and other bad things. There was even a rumor that buried treasure was located on the property. You can imagine my disappointment when I finally located it and took the picture
I never did feel fear, uneasy but never scared. I figured with the oak ax handle that I could have taken one or two out before they got to me and that put the odds in my favor. I learned a long time ago that if you hurt one, maybe two, they will back off and you can leave. I don't know what their purpose could have been, this was in broad daylight. Anyway, I did get four coins and had fun. I did almost get stung by a scorpion, one of those little brown ones. It ran across my hand before I realized what it was...they have a nasty sting similar to a wasp, but it lingers longer. Kelley (Texas)
It is about 30 inches long, wrapped in black electrical tape. As I get older, from time to time I will get a longer oak ax handle to compensate for my age...the older I get, the bigger the stick! Kelley (Texas)
though I think with 4 of them and one of you, you would of still beat their lazy azz... and good metal detecting. You probably know but a good rain storm is good for finding targets. Up here everytime I hunt after a rain the targets seem to appear. oj
With all the negative press about the Mexs' in your and Arizonas' area, one would think that they would have gone out of there way for 'good publicity' [or at minimum, ... no publicity].
Stlli in all, I am very pleased that you are healthy and not injured. And the coins are great... there is a good story attached to them.
under their saddle blanket. Most Hispanics down here are hard working, law abiding, honest folks, but there are always a few that drink beer and go out looking for trouble. Kelley (Texas)
Fred I'm glad you had a good day and managed to avoid conflict with those folks. It's amazing how deep resentment runs in parts of this country and how little it takes to stir up trouble especially when there is alcohol in the equation!
