All I've found so far this year is silver jewelry. Now, I love to find silver, but gold is Soooooooooooooo much better!! I went for a Saturday hunt at a lake a good 1 1/2 hr. drive away. Arriving at around 8:00 am, I was quite surprised that the recent rains had darn near filled the sucker back up!! Well, nothing to do but drag out an AT Pro and go at it. The first 2 hours yielded very little, a few coins and plenty of trash. I needed a water breeak so when I got back to the car, I decides I had had enough. So, I'm cruising out and decide to go to an area that I had never been to before, jusr to recon. Well, it looked promising, so I figured might as well hunt for a bit, just cuz I had a couple more hours free. Turns out, it was quite a productive spot. Coins started coming and then a silver ring. OK, this spot hasn't been hunted in a long time. So, after 2 hrs. and quite the workout digging coins and yet another silver ring, I had to pack it up. Heres the total take for the day!!

And here's the rings after a cleaning. They still need a bit of work, took me 24 Hrs. to get 'em this far, really cruddy!!

Big Cat on the lake

Grats on the finds! Did you ever find out what the bigger coin was? If not post a picture of it.

Hey, BCD, dat ain't bad! I got spoiled after finding the two gold rings (my first) in a week, now I have to keep telling myself to just enjoy the day and that it all averages out over time... sometimes that even works!:goodnight:
That is one glamourous girl cat you've got there!

I tell myself that too and I do enjoy the day, no doubt, but a gold ring or two would really boost my spirits. I'll head back to that spot since I only got a couple of hours in there and was doing the drunken sailor grid. And yes, she is the Queen cat, has been since the day we picked her up at the shelter.

Very nice hunt IMHO...Some spots are just devoid of gold...Either someone else got it, there is none to be found, or your just not in the right spot...
Where I live, I do not think many people loose their gold...Most folks around me are on Wellfare or some Government program, and cannot afford gold anyways...lol...
I hope to up my finds by hitting a LOT of water this year...

HH,

You're due for a hot streak! Just gotta get your coil over some bling! Maybe change your routine? I went to the university library yesterday, asking about resources for locating early homesites. I met a lady who just co-authored a book on the early forts and history of the area. Checked that out, and was able to help her out with some info about a series of 1885 indian massacres in the area. I just happened to have recently come across a detailed article in an Ohio paper about the incident. She, in turn, helped me locate the site of a ranch I'd been trying to locate (which, ironically was at the CCC picnic grove where I found that big gold ring).
Keep it swingin' !! :detecting:

Sadly, my routine consists of leaving for work at 5:30am, arriving back home at 6:30pm, get a bite to eat, relax for an hour, turn in...5 days a week (sometimes 6 days, life in the oilfield). I have about 4-5 hrs. free on Saturday morning, then chores around the house for the rest of the weekend. If I can hang on for 3 more yrs., then I can adjust my routine big-time!!!! Give Tigger a scritch behind the ear!!
