Took the New F-75 out today for it's maiden voyage. Figured I'd head to some school yards and fields to dig some clad and get used to the new machine. I went hunting in an area that had Civl War activity and was diggin clad left and right. After about an hour of diggin I was headed through a large open field an get a hard signal at 4 inchs deep. I cut my plug and poped it out, when I saw the bottom of the plug I knew I had a button and when I brushed it off I could'nt believe what I saw. CSA, Now my heart's a pumpin. Turned it over an the back's hook is still attached. After setteling down a bit I reached for my camera, Dang left it at home in haste to go hunting. Man I didn't expect this today but it's my first Civil War button thats complete, Dandy one at that. I still can't believe I got this lucky today.

Measures just a shade over 1/2" which translates to 13mm. Several websites that sells buttons says they were Kepi hat buttons, that are pretty scarce, I'd say that too if I was selling it. That would explain the decayed leather stuck on the back. Did a little cleaning on it and it was a nice chocolate brown when finished and had a shade of gilting near the edge in one place. I don't want to do alot to it because I'm afraid I'll ruin it. I reckon it'll be hard to top this but I'll keep at it. Thanks again for the comments ...Jim
