DANG... a mud wasp decided it liked the phone jack on my GT...

I had the garage open and the GT in there, I noticed a small black wasp hanging around it and danf if he didn't go into the phone jack.... it hadn't done much. I took the jack out and the wasp had sealed the openings in the sides of the plug. I cleaned it out but I haven't tried it yet... I think it'll be ok though.

I'm glad I noticed it before it laid an egg in there and sealed it with mud.... the nerve of some wasps....

If you want to keep that rig for a long time, treat it like it was your own child. I keep mine cleaned, bagged and stored when not in use. You paid a bunch of money for your machine, why let muddobbers build nests in it, not to mention what temperature and humidity can do to the electronics!!

can take hunting in the rain in the woods and mud. Take it from the A/C to the heat or from the heat into the cold... I carrid mine around in my truck, behind the seat.. (ext cab) for a couple of years... Nah... the garage don't hurt it a bit, besides I am running out of room. I also collect guitars and amps. 2 Strats, 2 Les Pauls, 4 acoustics, an Epiphone, a Suhr, and about 5 other guitars. At least 20 amps... then thre are the other detectors. I always carry three with me. I kep a Tejon in the toolbox in the truck and two behind the seat, currently an E-TRAC and a V-3... going to take the GT out sometime this week though.

I rolled up a little piece of paper and stuck it in the jack... i'll probably put a stereo/mono 1/4" adapter in it. I also have a T2 out there but it has a cover with a flap over the jack.

I'm glad I saw this little wasp before it put bugs in there and laid an egg in it...

They are your rigs, you can treat 'em any way you like. Mine are all in padded bags and in the house. It's too danged hot here to do anything but water hunt anyways and you better hit it early in the morning too. Our temps have been over 100

I has only been hot here for a couple of weeks in June. July has been really moderate. It hardly hit 80 yesterday. I was hunting when it was 95+ but it was hot!!

I can take it for maybe 2 hours, then I am soaking wet... but it's better than cold... I can't stand it when it gets down in the 30s... i'll get out in the cold if there is something I can't pass up, other than that, give me the summertime, i'd rather sweat than freeze.

As for my garage... it has a door and stays shut most of the time. Maybe you're right though, I could put the sovGT upstairs. My SE is inside till I get around to selling it. The rest stay in my truck because I hunt almost every day. Some days I am in Atlanta, some days Kennesaw, some days Cartersville... I own a pest control business and can quit for the day whenever I get ready... I have someone else to do the work... I worked most of May and June but have taken July off so far and have ben able to hunt a LOT... except for when I have the pleasure of keeping my grand daughter, she is 6yo and don't take to digging... she is ready to leave in about 15 minutes. laff.

The reason I keep three machines in the truck is because I don't know where I might wind up after work and it's not reasonable to drive 45 minutes in traffic to get a detector then drive back to where I was.

Over the years i've had no problem keeping them in my truck... then, like I said... I hunt almost every day.
