Hello! I have been hunting for a couple of months. I live at the beach, and know a guy who has found 30 rings this year in the wet sand. I've been searching the wet sand, but haven't been able to find a darn thing. I have an MXT and am using the stock coil. I also have a 9" Eclipse that my husband says I should try. He has a Minelab GT Sovereign, and he found a ring and $5.00 worth of coins in the wet sand yesterday. I'm pretty frustrated. I get a lot of scattered, weak tones as I search in the wet sand, and I'll dig down 6-8 inches without success. Any pointers? Thanks in advance! Sharon

Hi Sharon, I too haven't had very good luck at the beach so far. And I've been going off and on for over a dozen times and only a buck and a quarter to show for it. I have picked up a copy of JEFF FISHERS, The MXT Edge. It has a good bit of beach hunting in it and am going to try it out soon. I go over around Sebastion Inlet (near Vero Beach, Fl) and there's been a lot of Gold Spanish Doubloons found over there. Good luck, HH. You'll come up with something soon I hope,.:super: :wiggle: K C

Hello Sharon
Sorry to here of your bad luck on the beach but glad to hear of your enthusiasm. First let me say that the MXT is a fantastic metal detector and I have been using one for years, but it is just not suited for the wet salt sand at the beach. The salt mineralization will cause it to false and if you turn down your sensitivity to compensate you lose your depth. The MXT is a great machine for the dry sand and for all other types of detection and I have paid for my machine several times over in jewelry finds. I also hunt the beach and use another detector for hunting in the wet sand. If you really want to hunt in the wet salt sand you need to get a multiple frequency detector. That is why the man with the GT is making the finds. Find you a good used minelab detector such as the GT, Safari, Quattro, or Explorer. I use the Quattro and it runs quite as a mouse in the wet salt sand and the depth is incredible. I do not use it anywhere except the wet salt beach. You can pick one of these up used very reasonable because alot of people were disappointed with it because of its slow recovery speed in trashy areas. It is one of the best beach detectors made hands down and you can go to the quattro forum and search for beach use and you will see what i mean. Good luck and don't get discouraged. Also if you can find one and can afford it get the Bigfoot coil for the MXT it is a killer. Ken
