DAMM YANKEE needs JOHNNY REB Advice::

Hey you JOHNNY REBS, This DAMM YANKEE needs some GOOD SOUTHERN ADVICE!! I'm planning a trip down your way THIS WINTER, and WOULD APPRECIATE some advice on SOME GOOD SOUTHERN BEACH RESORTS in the States of SOUTH CAROLINA and GEORGIA!! I am interested in some resorts that I can METAL DETECT the beaches, and try to hook-up with some SOUTHERN GENTLEMEN and or LADIES for some possible LAND DETECTING!! Also, I am interested in resorts that a DISABLED VET can afford, and hangout with COMMON FOLK like MYSELF!! Any Advice WOULD BE DEEPLY APPRECIATED!!

Well Billy...

All I know about the beaches is to stay off Hilton Head. It is even illegal on Hilton Head for a private property owner to hunt their own property, anywhere on the island.

I live in GA but never go to the GA coast. I live NW of Atlanta. There are a few decent places around here but I haven't gotten to hunt in over a month and i'll be gone until January. If you are going to be around after that let me know and i'll try to set something up.

but I am land locked in Tennessee. My water season is pretty much over until the summer.

I can't speak for the Carolinas or Georgia, but in general be prepared for the ground to be more mineralized here, especially where there is red clay. We don't seem to get near the depth that the Northeast gets in our area. In East Tennessee finding a coin past 10" happens, but it is rare. I have found a nickel at 12" once and that is my deepest coin find in the last 7 years. That said, you can still find great things down here if you get on a good location.

Good luck!

MANY THANKS for the reply Alton!! I just received a very informative S. Carolina Website from Thinkin2 (Jerry), so I have to do some more research. Alton, have a
