D-Tex - MetroTech - Goldak and other orphan detectors

Panhandle Pete

New member
Does anyone around here use the D-Tex detectors? For that matter are there any users of classic detectors orphaned by their manufacturer's going out of business?

Hi, P.Pete
Interesting! My FIRST detector, was a Metrotech, 220 bonanza deluxe. For the price, it was GREAT! I think it used one 9V batt. The coil was a solid flat 9" or 10"
pancake type. It was very sensitive, & can detect coins as deep as 10". I also never had any problems zeroing in on any targets.

Pete, if you go to this site, you will find past discussions, pix, nostalgia, etc... on the old machines:

Not a lot of "traffic" there, because there's not a big niche of collectors in the older machines. But if you scroll back far enough, invariably you'll find mention and pix of most all the various early oddities. Good luck.
