Well-known member
Hi All, Well detector should be here tomorrow i hope. Dose anyone have any advice for me? I have never used one, but been trying to find any and all help i can get. It has the 8" coil on it, i am trying to find a good deal on a 5''. The soil here is not to hot, but the parks has alot of trash.I have read that this detector will go deep. I have a place i have found IH, Bulffs, Lot of wheat's, but can,t find any silver. This place was started back in the 30s should be some silver. Well used place, lots of ball games, I have only seen one other detectors in the last 4years. So if you can give me any help i would really be happy. Thanks Dean

Congrats on your new machine. Is it a pro? The search engine here brought up more than I could read in one sitting. Also another good source is www.dankowskidetectors.com Good luck with the silver.

Hi Clad2hunt, No it,s not a Pro, but from what i understand they are the same other than the pro can be hip mounted, and uses 2 9v batteries. How did you find info on the CZ7a? Can you tell me what to do? I have a question on the other form you talked about. Hope i can understand this detector. I really want to use it well. Thanks for the post Flintstone

You will have to let us know what you think of the AA counterbalance. I had one guy tell me it was brilliant but just never caught on. I talked to a guy who had one of these for sale but went with a pro instead. I think they are almost identical in how they work. He swore that the AA batteries in that set up would last like eighty hours. There is a lot of interest on the forums right now around these detectors. I am sure everyone will be anxious to see how you get along with it. Remember, first it is a CZ and most of the CZ info you read today will also apply to your older unit. There is a Fisher video for your unit if you happen to run across one.

Top middle of page is search, then type in cz7a then pick cz forum,at bottom at options pick 1yr for time then search and read away. Not trying to be a smart just informative. I just got a cz3d and wearing the search engines out before I bought. This site and the other are the best for info on the CZ line IMHO. Also Fisherlabs.com has some grt. articles on their site. Hope this helps.

The Manual is at http://www.fisherlab.com/hobby/manuals/cz-7apro.pdf
In trashy areas, I set mine to just pick up coins. that means no gold jewelry, but it also means I don't spend 8 hours digging aluminum trash and moving only 10 feet. It will go deep. I have picked up small 1/8 inch screws at 12 inches. It takes a bit of time to get used to the machine, but thats the case with every metal detector. Spend some time digging every signal to get an idea of what the hits are, and then you can start to make decisions on what iffy signals are and to ignore them. Sometimes I get iffy hits that sound like coins but are actually some sort of iron. The other thing is twist off caps, they always sound like quarters but will bounce from penny to quarter, after a while digging them you can start to tell what a likely twist off signal is.

Thanks everyone, Got the detector yesterday, late after noon, It is a fantastic detector, has a 10.5" coil. I took it to the park for about 1hr. Found $0.96 I do need a 8" coil. Dose all CZ coils fit the CZ7A ? I can find coil for other CZ but not one say they fit a CZ7A. Thanks for the manual post, but got the manual with the detector, I don,t think the detector has been use just a few hr. I think he didn,t give it time to learn it. It is alot different than other detectors i have used. I am going to stay with this one till i whip it or it whips me. If anyone has a 8" coil they don,t need, i sure would like to buy it. Thanks Again for all the help, any more will be welcome. Thanks Dean

Yes, all CZ coils will work on the CZ7A. Swing the big coil SLOWLY, with iron notched in. If it sounds like a constant chatter, you will now know there are also tons of steel bottlecaps between you and the goodies and the CZ's do not like reading these above iron much of the time. You can notch out everything but high coin but in a very trashy site you won't hit much until that layer of rust and tabs get's removed.

Work any new cuts in bushy/overgrown areas where people would not have dropepd so much junk in the last 50 years and find some other areas, usually private or formerly private, that are now public and open.

Hi Tim, I love this detector, but the 10.5 coil is just to big. I got a 8" on the way, i think i will do alot better, Do you still move the 8" coil slow like the 101/2"? I tryed to ground balance by bobbing the coil, but don,t know if i did it right, but did find some clad, had some targets that pin pointed OK but the depth was way off on most. What made this happen? Some would say 1" and be 3 or 4". And I was missing the target by 2" or more. I think i need to stay with pre set for awhile, don't you? Thanks All for the help,i will keep everyone posted on how i am doing, and if you think of anything else, please post it, i need all the help i can get. Thanks so much Dean
.

Hi Randy, Thanks for that web site, I printed it all out so i can keep it with me. I want to learn this detector bad. I told my wife that if i can learn this one, it will be the last detector i will buy till it quits and can,t be fixed.I don,t know what it is about this detector but it has a spell on me. I have had lots of other brands, that were very good, but the Fisher is something else.I haven,t had it very long, but i just can,t stop looking at it. I wish i could hunt everyday. Thanks very much Dean

Hello Flintstone and congrads on the cz7a ,you have a very strong deep finding silver and gold machine, i have a cz5,cz7a pro and cz20. The cz5 i have had for 13yrs with no problems and to this day i would
not take 1000.00 each for any of them. You my friend have a machine that will work as a coin ,beach ,relic, any field you choose to hunt. I am new to this board trying to learn my new minelab se pro but i have 29yrs of metal detecting under my belt and over half have been with the cz's.I think you should add the small 5inch coil to your collection and will be very happy in the trashy areas of hunting, here is a pic of some of the silver you are after and alot was found in hunted out places with cz's and the 5inch coil. good luck....Steve

Hi Fisherman776, I just got the 5" coil Mon. haven,t had a chance to use it yet. How deep dose the 5" coil go? Can you run it with max sensitivity? I can use all the help i can get. I think i am going to love this CZ. I have found $4.00 or $5.00 with the 10.5" coil, now i have the 8" and the 5" to go with it. Now if the weather will cool down.

Hello flintstone, set your discrimination at 0 so you can hear all three tones, dig only the mid and high tones, the 5inch coil in my opinion does'nt loose any depth,i can tell you that i run my sensitivity at no more than 5. I have to share with you that if you hunt with these settings and find no Silver its because there is no silver there......Steve

Hi I'm new to the forum, but I've been in and out of metal detecting sense the 80's. I started out with the Whites 5000/DI series 2, then went to a Teknetics 9000/B then I got a Teknetics Mark I, Now I have a Fisher CZ7A-Pro that I bought when they were still coming off the press. Now all these years later I'm thinking about getting back into detecting again and had a few questions to ask. I understand that Fisher upgraded the CZ7A-pro to the CZ70 but what model Fisher replaced the CZ70? I'm just trying to figure where I stand in the model line now and if I want to look for a newer machine.
Thanks,
Mark

No digital replacement and only CZ available is CZ3D....Fisher is now into their F series which is a different animal..

Heck what you have(CZ7A pro) should serve you well as F series are a love or hate unit due to being noisy(EMI) while the CZ with sens. not too high is a quiet unit...

Google Mikes CZ page as its a wealth of info for using any model CZ....Any CZ coil will fit except the original CZ6 which had a different connector...
