Should I leave it in normal or move it to sea when hunting fresh water?
I want to do a river hunt next week if the weather permits it
 
Should be fine in normal.
Only if you have trouble with GB, then try Salt mode.

Be careful not to dunk your detector.
There are many things in the control box that don't respond well to water. ;)

Also normal mode goes deeper and likes gold better.......and should GB in fresh water.....of course saltwater is another story....
