CZ70 + FZ-12 coil = KICK BUTT

Went to a spot that I previously pounded with my CZ70 and the Fisher 10.5" coil and thought I had cleaned it out. Yesterday I hit it with the CZ70 and the Sunray FZ12 coil, and started finding good targets right away. All the coins where between 6-9". I also found a small buckle and a silver plated thimble that I have soaking.

Got two Barber dimes, a 1910 plain and an 1899S!! Got my first Buffalo nickel, a 1920 and a 1944 Mercury (looks like it just barely escaped the lawn mower). The wheats are 1918S, 1919S, 1921S, 1937S, Two 1944S, 1945, 1946 & 1952S.

I am amazed that I found all these coins after hitting this spot hard with the CZ70 + 10.5" coil and thinking I got everything. I'm willing to bet there just as much or more, but I'm going to wait until we get some rains as I can probably get a little more depth

I'm loving the CZ70

Well done Brian.
Glad you were able to get one of the F-12 coils.
I find that it does not take much trash to mask with the CZ and a big coil.
Looks like the combination is really working for you at that location.
Congrats!

cal cobra, very nice finds! do you think the fz12 coil made the difference finding the coins? seems like coins in the 6 - 9" range would be easy targets for the stock cz 70 coil. you might be hunting some bad ground, but here in illinois my cz 70 goes deeper than i want to dig with the 8" coil. with the 10 1/2" coil i have dug some targets that a shovel would have worked better than my digger. maybe i need to start looking for a fz12 coil myself if it works that well. too bad they are so hard to find. i bet you find many more good coins at that site with the cz 70 and the fz12 coil. good luck and thanks for posting about the good finds with the new coil....now i want one!.....hh.........roger

Thanks everyone, I have to admit that I'm very impressed with the CZ70, I wish I'd started with one to begin with. It's not as fast as the F series tectors, but it finds the goods

Roger the soil at that spot is pretty tame , so I don't know why the FZ12 found what the Fisher big coil didn't. Perhaps I swung the Fisher at a different angle, perhaps I wasn't overlapping swings, perhaps the environmental conditions changed, or  Sometimes it just seems like targets are "on" better then others at the same site.

The Fisher 10.5" is an interesting animal because it has that elliptical center receive coil, it almost acts like a DD. I did read in Bill Ladd's FZ12 field report that he found that targets tended to sound "better" on with the Sunray vs the large Fisher coil. If I had the time & energy I should've compared some of the deeper signals between coils to see if the Fisher coil really would've missed them

Impressive finds my friend and would bet the increased coverage was the reason for the finds as the stock 8 should have easily went that depth. Again one wonders why they stopped making such a good acc. coil. Surely not for every place but large areas such as a beach or large field or even in ground with not much trash it excells.Personally in the areas I hunt my stock 8 goes as deep as I want to dig and are trashy. Wish I had one when I hunted saltwater shores for the extreme coverage as my pouch would have been heavier..

:surprised: Outstanding finds, wish I could find a FZ12 coil for my CZ5. I've been swinging that detector for 15 years or more and can't bare to part with it.

Thanks everyone, it was definitely an exciting weekend for me.

I feel like I'm finally getting the depth I need, and believe me I've tried a LOT of different machines over the past 2 years, it's ironic that it took a 5 year old detector to best some of the other "high-end" units I've been working with
