Hi
I just got rid of a Fisher CZ6 a used it for 19years for funds to get a new G2. Anybody here use a CZ and the G2 they seem simerler and cant tell me how you like the G2 can`t wait to get my hands on that puppy.
I have been reading about the G2 for 1 year and it sounds like the opertoin is close to what i know about the CZ6 a it got to heavy for me to swing and hip mounting it just tied me up to much.
The only thing that i know that will be different is CZs Love deep iron and squar nails.. and the G2 just does not see it if you want... CZ in the lowest setting in Disc you could hear that iron grunt just like the G2 hope it the same sound.
The CZ in All Metal was VCO G2 is also CZ in Pinpoint was VCO G2 is also.
I loved that CZ6a just to heavy but Hot ran two freq. 5 and 15 but i an so looking forward to using the G2 just the lite weight will hook me and looking for some good finds G2 gets it tuesday the 27.
I have learned so much from this forum and i want to say thanks for shaering your know how.

Gary,

I have used the CZ6a since they first came out, and still do. It' my favorite unit, but that's just because I use it the most. If you are looking for a lighter weight, faster recovery speed unit that is great in iron, then the G2 will fit the bill. I have used the Gold Bug SE, which is very similar, and found the CZ and GB Se complimented each other very well.

No unit can do it all, and I think you probably realize that it is up to you, your hunting conditions and what you are hunting for, that determines what the best unit will be.

What I can tell you is that in the areas I hunt, the CZ is deeper and hits harder on silver coins, the Gold Bug SE was much faster, better in iron and will hit smaller lower conductive targets easier. I would assume the G2 would be the same in compared to the CZ.

I do know that the Gold Bug Se balanced out in the wet, salt sand here in NJ and it could hunt the wet sand. Not a depth demon but it performed fairly well. Where it shines on the beach is in the dry sand. Super unit for that and I am sure the G2 would be a great dry sand unit for gold jewelry searching if you ever go beach hunting.

I think you will have fun with the G2. Super easy to set up and use, you can swing it all day long and when you get into some heavy iron laden sites with a lot of nails or rusty pieces of iron, it will find the good targets in between that garbage if there are any there.

Thanks Therover
Yes i know to G2 is not a depth demon and the CZ6a is as deep as they get. last sunner i sent the CZ to FTP for a good cleaning, new coil, and a Tuneup so that detector went deeper that it did new. I liked the weight of the CZ in hip mount but to restrictive in my movement. The CZ ground balanced much like the G2 does, but no Ground Grab so it sould be easy for me to run and swing. The CZ two freqs. 5-15 the g2 19
I guess i traded depth for lighter weight, and better disc. faster recovery time and freedom to move away from the machine if i want.
I just want to keep having fun at this wounderful hobby and im sure i will enjoy the G2 more that some of the other detectors i`v had in the last 43 years of MDing, i used to sell detectors in the 90s. I live in the woods in South Central N.Y. Watkins Glen, Finger Lakes area i hunt plowed fields and older home sites often. So im thinking that to be able to hunt in iron and trash, this machine might shine for me
Thanks for your reply

Older homes sites where there is a lot of trash, nails, etc. will be great places for the G2. If you did not get the smaller coil with the package, save up and get it. Works incredible when there's lots of nails in the mix.

Long time CZ5 user here and I have also been using the G2 for the last year. G2 is amazing...it is my hands down, go to favorite detector. My CZ does go deeper by about 2 inches in my soil with the 8" coil but I hunt almost exclusively with the 10.5" coil on the CZ only in places that are relatively free of trash and iron and what remains to be found is deep. BUT, people really under sell the G2 on depth and silver coins. The G2 is decent machine for depth. I routinely dig 58 Cal minie balls at 6-8" and have dug them in disc mode up to 10". Silver coins? I have dug seated dimes down to 8", and a friend using his G2 got a seated half-dime at 7" (mild-moderate soil). Be aware that deep targets will be faint whispers and often alternate with iron grunts. For example I often get soft signal that 50% of the sweeps across the target register in the iron range (40 or below) the other half will give numbers in the high 60's to 70's. If I pinpoint and then see a depth reading of 6-7 inches or deeper....it's a minie. Most accurate TID I have ever seen. You're gonnna love it!

Excellent observation and something everyone new to this machine needs to know about the Id system. Those deeper targets that are smooth and Id jumpy then pp at depth should defiantly be dug.
Until the user understands this about the Tid on this machine your going to miss, allot deep targets as well as micro stuff just under the surface. After A while TID patters emerge that you can recognize as having potential.

Surface Example!
Silver earring back 1/2", Hits faint jumpy vdi from iron to 60s sweeping different directions then when PP the signal is super tight indicating surface target but giving a depth reading of 3 to 4" this type of id is usually the case when I find micro jewelry.

I really think this machine is going to prove itself over time as one of the best Micro Jewelry hunters.

Thanks sekypaleo and godigit1
I will keep that in mind thanks for all the help Gary
