CZ6 Question

I was lucky to come across a Mint CZ6 w/case and 4",8",10" coils and the pigtail, I doubt this detector was ever used. My question is; Just how water resistant is the CZ6,I live in Rainy Oregon and can I use it w/out a cover? when I called the factory months ago, they told me it had extra seals the Cz5 didn't as well as being a no speaker unit. They said it was pretty well sealed but wouldn't commit themselves as if I should use it in the rain or not.
Any opinion will be appreciated.

If I remember correctly, the CZ6 wasn't splashproof. That didn't come until the CZ-6a. To be safe, just use a large plastic baggie if it looks like rain.

Good hunting,

I think weather resistant covers it and surely not waterproof and agree fully...put a plastic bag on it as oldtymer says and save yourself a lot of grief as one drop of water entering the unit can cause havoc....I have heard of some fellows using a hose to clean and others leaking in a moderate rainstorm so be safe not sorry...and Fisher will tell you its not waterproof and repairs are expensive...

I had disassembled my CZ6, identical version like you have, and it looks pretty good sealed against the water.... On the other hand plastic bag costs nothing, so maybe better to use it.
There is another think you can meet - internal mail part of connector for coil inside a unit could move slowly inside, each time you connect/disconnect the coil, and one time you will lost the contact definetly... It is glued but it can move... Very hard to find problem because very simple and stupid... You only have to push it outside (and I glued it with epoxy definetly).

how are you liking your CZ6 i got one when they first came out i just updated to a id excel the id excel is one nice machine any idea what a a CZ6 is worth i am thinking of selling or keep for back up
