CZ6 Help

5STAR

New member
Hello everyone, this is my first time at this forum asking for help

I hope this isn't a longshot

Recently I have got a chance to purchase a Fisher CZ6-Quicksilver detector real cheap, I mean dirt cheap but, I have a problem. The guy that is selling it is missing the pigtail that plugs into the front of the detector.

So, I am in need of this. I'm only hoping someone can come through.

If I posted this is the wrong spot. I apoligize

I believe the cable on the coil itself should plug right into the detector, now I do believe that the early models of the CZ6 used a different connector on the coils but I'm pretty sure its supposed to just plug right in.

As for where you posted your topic, your in the right place.
Dan_Pa is well versed in all the CZ land units and they are others here as well, I'm sure Dan on one of the others will reply pretty soon.

Maybe if you could post a couple of pictures of the connector on the control housing and the one on the coil that might also help.

I think 5STAR is looking for the headphone pigtail. You may luck out and Fisher may have one of these in stock. I am sure if anyone has one of these extra they may offer it to you at a bargain.

88junior is correct. The pigtail for the headphones. Sorry I wasn't more clear. That is a the 4 pin connector. I checked with Fisher, no joy on that

I am willing to trade a silver Morgan for it

Yes...the original design of the CZ6a was to be water resistant...NOT waterproof. Therefore the headphone connection required a special hook-up pigtail to aid in this achievement as it did not have an internal speaker. Hopefully you will be able to find this pigtail...if not then you might be able to open the unit and replace the connector with a regular headphone jack. In doing this you will probably destroy it's water resistance integrity...but it should work fine for you once the jack is properly installed. Now you just need to find someone savvy enough to install the replacement jack. Your only other options are finding a replacement pigtail or sending the unit in for the mod.

Try Keith Wills at brokendetectors.com he specializes in parts and repairs of older units, if he don't have an OEM one then he can most likely make you one up.

I would also sent it to Keith as he knows CZ's,I don't care what some other's on this site may say! He has always done me rite!

My name Everett. I live in Los Banos C. Call me at 209-675-5477 I will send you A cable free.

Right On Everett. Your so kind

I have another question

What size is the 4 pin male connector on the back of the box, the one that the coil plugs into. I found a place that stocks the new 5 pin but I need to know the size of the old one so I get the right one

Thanks to Everett problem solved and was hoping someone had the pigtail....Understand it costs $175 to change over to the CZ6A a five pin coil connector and eliminates the pigtail...As CZ6 is 91-92 vintage cost prohibitive to put in any money in it...How times have changed my original CZ6 cost approx. 40 bucks to do the same process when my coil connector failed in 93-94 and all Fisher would do is do the aforementioned change as the original 4 pin in some failed but many didn't and more than a few CZ6's still going strong....and looks like you found one....

Theres another way to solve this; on ebay is a CZ6 and someone added a standard socket in the side of the housing. It looks funny but I bet it didn't cost much to add.
