Hey Brawler,
I'm no expert.
I think I said that in the first post, also.
But I know what I've seen.
The post I agreed with was up to $350 as an advisory to a purchaser.
Far wiser fellows than I quickly came to bat and stated higher figures based on their personal experience.
I must defer to them.
However... I am a qualified residential construction worker with extensive experience.
I am very familiar with being offered everything in the back room including the cat, or dog, in exchange for a portion of the bill.
Same as the fellow who made THAT post, who went there to feed his kiddies.
And by golly, some of my clients are the nicest folks you ever could hope to meet, same as his...
AND I KNEW he was gonna give more allowance than I suggested!
It's the name of the game for us service people... we are NICE to everyone... to a fault!
MOF, I'll bet a nickel you could not get much over $100 for a CZ-6, CZ-6a, or CZ-5 from ANY pawn shop in the country today.
Maybe you could get another twenty if it was pristine.
Let's wander back to the present deal...
There's folks who may feel the CZ-5 is superior to the CZ-6a.
Perhaps because it's a newer model, or perhaps because it does have a speaker.
And, we've got the pair of additional coils that do have substantial value.
Now Brawler, I'm not going to advise some fellow to sell his CZ for what I paid for my own...
Mine was ugly (looked like Rambo was the prior owner.)
Mine did NOT work when I got it home!
Thanks to fellows on this forum helping me out, it works now, and seems like I ended with a good machine.
That fellow on the other side of my monitor screen may have a pristine CZ-5 he only lets out of the original box once each month and has trained it well to find 18k gold rings that weigh not less than a full troy ounce with 3 carat diamonds.
(I'd find a way to buy THAT machine at whatever the asking price!)
The figure I mentioned is substantially less than a First Texas current offering, and I would suspect the seller would post it for less than that. He'll probably get lowball offers, and eventually accept a bit less than originally asked.
Isn't that how things go, in the open market for non-essential items?
I don't feel I was out of line, or contradictory with my prior post. At least not so much as to be remarkable.
Now that I've explained my process, do you?
And, if I have not yet, I'll state it now,
I am a pathological liar and a functional illiterate.
