CZ5 vs CZ70 New to this site

Santa brought my 8 yr old son a basic metal detector and I have found myself really liking it. I have decided to get a good one now so that we can both do it together. Cost of course is always an issue--so i want your guys opinion--from what I have read the CZ5 will do everything I need here in Indiana---and it almost becomes a problem even finding one that is available to buy. We will be deducing in local parks and old home sites, etc--so yes the areas we will have access to will have been hit pretty hard Have found an 1897 Indian Head penny with his detector so I have hope---look forward to your thoughts---

You need to figure out whether you want a digital readout or an analog. 70 pro, 7A pro are digital. CZ5, 6A and 3D are analog. I personally own a 3D (the only one still manufactured). You can find used ones on ebay and on the classifieds on this site and others. They are still plentiful. 7A pro is the older version of the the 70 pro. 6A is older than a CZ5 and 3D is the newest. The CZ-3D is a modified CZ5. It is designed for use at sites that are 50+ yrs older with little newer trash (ie pulltabs, screwcaps, etc.) You can use it at newer sites, just put it in salt mode and it will do just fine.

The CZ series are some of the best detectors on the market and they're simple to use. That is why I own one. Powerful and easy to use. Go to Fisherlab.com and download the 3D manual to get a feel for the unit.

Any CZ would work well. You'll enjoy whichever one you decide on.

Good Luck,
