CZ5 and CZ3D question

silverfinder

New member
Being a tried and true believer of the older CZ5's I was wondering if I 1. am very comfortable with an older CZ5 2. would the new 3D be comparable to my expectations what a CZ5 does.
I've had great success with the older CZ's and just love the way they talk to me. So as I ramble on should I continue my search for an older CZ5 or bite the bullet and get a new 3D?
Comments and realistic comparisons are always welcome.
Thanks, Ray

I think its sort of a gamble anymore buying a new 3D. You could always look for a used 3D that has already been tested and is supposed to be working like it should but then again you would not get a warranty but would be paying less for it. If you hunt older areas and are looking for older coins I would go with the 3D.

The CZ3d was my first Fisher detector. I didn't have the chance to try a CZ5. I bought mine brand new in 2008. She was a good one but did require one trip back to Fisher to take care of an erratic overload signal. Fisher turned it around quick and I found a ton of stuff with that machine. I went on to buy F70s, F75s and eventually an LTD. I still love getting the CZ3 out and hitting old grassy areas. I think you would take to a CZ3 like a duck to water. I bought my new one strictly on faith never knowing anything different. I know I liked having the five year warranty. Maybe you could find a bigger dealer who would open a CZ3d up and do an air test before you bought it from him. Unless you know the person or can do your own air test you are kinda taking a shot in the dark on a used machine. Again, I bought one used one before I realized there were hotter ones out there. The used one I bought was fine and good on depth. I would like to think that things will turn out great for you which ever way you decide to go. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Ray, to add the what Cometguy said I was able to find a dealer that had a new one in stock and he did put it togather and did an air test for me before I bought it. This may be your best bet then you would still get a 5 year warranty.

Same machine except for enhanced mode that rings high tones for coins. If your cz5 is working good, why get a near duplicate unit? Wouldn't you like to get a machine that shines in other areas that the cz doesn't?
For instance, a unit that's better in iron, or is waterproof, or is good in high mineralized soil, etc. That way the bases are covered for the areas you hunt.
