CZ5 , 5" coil, and a Volleyball Court

To start out Father's Day I was going to hunt the blanket line a local beach. I arrived and start out. A lady that was cast netting came over and asked if I could check half of a volleyball court for a toe ring that her friend lost. I thought why not, it would be good. I started out with the 8" coil but found that I was working in too much trash. I switched to the new 5" coil. Now I have used a 4" coil with my Landstar and enjoyed it I hope to have good results with the 5". I started out with settings GB-6, Sens-5, Disc-0 in normal mode and Vol-5. The volleyball court had a top layer 4-6" of sand and packed dirt underneath. I was digging everything to understand my unit better. I learned allot about the CZ5 mainly the iron nails. I understand what you guys were talking about now with the high tone then iron. I dug about 75 assorted pull tabs and I did come up with a anklet and a silver charm (cup cake ). That 5" worked great I ended up with a sens-2 at the end of the hunt. What I would like to try is on the other side of the volleyball court is all-metal, high sensitivity, use the pinpoints depth meter to dig 6" and shallow. Here's a pix.

My daughter got the anklet.
HHing,

Congrats on the jewelry.

In auto-tune with the sensitivity up you can hunt a little faster than in discriminate mode ... just remember to slow the sweep down again when you flip to 0 to ID. I also walk around iffy targets to see what the ID is at a very slow sweep speed coming from different angles. In auto-tune, on long thin iron (like hair pins), when sweeping over the length (but not across it), it double blips; another reason to circle a target and hit it from many angles.
Cheers,
tvr

HHing,

I have been using the 5" coil on my CZ5 for a long time and running in Disc- just under nickles and Sens- 4 to 6, I have no problem getting wheat pennies and silver dimes up to about 6". It may go deeper I just haven't found anything past that. If you keep running that little coil I think it will become your favorite it has for me. I just retired and thought I would get a new big gun detector so I got the F75 LTD, I am sure it is a good machine but it doesn't seem to be any better than the CZ5. It came with 2 coils and it didn't take me to long and I had that little 5" coil hanging on the end of the stick.

Good luck on the other half of that soccer field. Ron

Thank for all the replies. Haven't been out for a while, wife had major surgery early Aug. ...She's better now, I am looking forward to this week, plan on hitting the beach...

I got to do the other side today and found some clad. I was great getting out.

Autotune and dig all and you will get the small gold others miss...actually larger coil for better coverage depending on the size of the court as lots of area to cover overlapping swings...
