I 've had my machine since the 2nd week of dec. and am not sure I'm setting it up right when I hunt. It seems ok at the beach then when I get inland all I'm getting is false signals. I've tryed gbing with the push button and by bobbing neither seems better than the other. Because I'm getting so many false signals I can't figure out if I'm doing something wrong. When you do the battery check do you need to turn onb the machine first?

I also found that if you are working in a new trashy area and running in the enhanced mode you will get a lot of falsing. try running the sens. lower and try the salt mode.

First and foremost I think you have got some excellent suggestions..I do hope you are not running your sensitivity over 4 as the CZ3D becomes noisy after that setting..Remember improper ground balancing can also cause the same effect and I hope you have iron disced out as that can also be a problem..Perhaps you have a club member with a like CZ to compare or offer on the spot advice. If all else fails a call to Fisher may be relevant as perhaps you have a bad coil or faulty unit or some really bad ground.
All in all properly setup you unit should be fairly quiet which certainly is a plus and hopefully you can eliminate the problem by following the advice of the posters...

i owned a cz-70 and i can tell you that i had difficulty setting sensitivity over 4,however that was just fine, because it ran stable, and strong, and depth WAS phenominal!..dan is correct by saying that DIGITAL cz's will hunt with maximun power and stability at a setting of 4,and sometimes cranked to 6!
