Would you guys say that this detector my be the best all around unit for beach sand and land......I need info......hh....God Bless..........Dan

I think the CZ's ( 5, 6a, 70 and 3D) are some of the best all around detectors ever. Once one knows how to use them, run them wide open discrim and listen for to the iron, you can pull out lots of good targets among the iron. When you start to up the discrim and not hear the iron, that is where you run into trouble.

Saying that, as primarily a beach hunter, I use my 6a's and not my 3D since the 3D has a speaker, and the 6a control box is weather resistant. I hunted with the 6a over this weekend, and that thing got splashed and sand all over it. A simple rinse on the face plate under running water, a wipe down, and all is well. I would not be inclined to do that with the 3D. Also, beach hunting with Cz's lends itself to dig ALL mid and high tones, along with some low tones that are deep. So, the 4th tone of the 70 and 3D is moot for beach hunting in my book.

At some point I am going to take the 3D to the beach, but when I do, I will put duct tape over the speaker grill.

If I were you, and are looking for a CZ to beach hunt with, I would look for a 6a or 70 before the 3D since they are much more weather resistant(remember...they are NOT water proof). A used 6a or 70 would cost less too.

On the flip side, the 3D is more tuned for the older sites and could be a difference maker in old sites where it would bring older nickles, Indian head pennies and some gold into the high tone area. You would possibly have to dig many more mid tone targets with the other CZ's to get these types of coins.

I am heading out Friday to the beach for only a few hours, so I may take the 3D on it's maiden voyage there. If so, I will post the results. Will use the stock 8 inch coil too as I want to see how it works with that prior to putting on the 10.5 or FZ12 coils.

Thanks for the info JC.....yes let us know how it does at the beach....hh.......Dan

Surely one of the best for depth(user friendly) and handles saltwater enviroments well...Might elect for a an older weather resistant model for the saltwater areas..

A note about larger coils on saltwater beaches sure give a lot more coverage but a stock 8 inch coil will handle the enviroment better....

If your Digging pepsi can's you don't know the detector a can would have to be 2 ft deep for me to dig it bro. and the nail thing is a minor hindrance Besides i see Explorers and e-trac's digging iron too. besides I'd like to buy the world a Coke:cheers:

After my first week with the 3D I never dug another nail. You will dig a few bottle caps with it, as you will with ANY detector.

Well, id sure like to know that trick, not digging another nail after the first week. Im finding nails together with coins. disc or no disc youll still dig nails. ive found large cents that bounce from iron to coin. I bet someone would find a lot of goodies going over the signals you pass up. The only reason i dig overloads is because i found 2 walkers that way, and if its a place you frequently hunt, its better to get those cans out of there anyway. Sure you can tell how big your target is when pinpointing, but youll never know what it is till its in your hand.

Listen fella,, I am not saying you don't dig some iron it's a fact of life that sometimes happens, and not just with CZ's, and i noticed you saying that you dug two walkers giving you the overload signal, that's cool I'm glad you where successful, but you and i and anyone with experience knows that is the exception and far from the rule, once you understand the Detector and ground conditions like soft loamy soil the coins are deeper and stable solid soil the targets are usually shallower , Hill's coin's are shallower, I've been a CZ user for 10 years and i have found over a 1000 silver coins with a CZ, believe me i know it has limitations, but don't knock the detector that has whipped most all detectors from every manufacturer out there, or maybe it's just me and my CZ3-D and I'M the best. No I Don't Think So.
