CZ3d to Thomas,,,

Sending my unit in to Tom Dankowski for a tune up,,, it will be a nice feeling knowing it is at it's top level of operation,,,,

this board is a little slow compared to the others,,,, I hope is cuz you're all out hunting and not just chasing loose women

I would love to try a Tom D tuned 3D. I just tried to buy one but the deal fell through
as the machine was cutting out . The owner thought it was a loose coil but i guess
its more involved. Good Luck

I think if the unit has been hip mounted much there is a tendency to set it down on the coil wire connector when taking the unit off. This will work the crap outta the connector and give you problems,,,

I wonder if that was the one I was looking at as the same thing happened to me,But the seller was good about the refund so I didn't say anything about it. I guess 1021 or not you can still have problems with your CZ-3D.

dunno but I hope mine comes back 100%,, ready to go

Tom will set it up to max and make sure it up to par for sure, the rest is up to you.

As far as the old Fisher and new Fisher...talked to both old and new tech's over the years and begone the serial numbers thing..
PS: I have used both and seen no noticeable difference and don't know what I had for supper last night but I know CZ's.....

heheheh looking forward to some deep goodies when the 1021 gets back home,,, I need to name her,,,, and it was pot roast , green beans and taters, I was there , remember?

I have a 1021 CZ-3D validated by Tom. My son has a brand new First Texas CZ-3D validated by Tom.
They both perform exactly the same.
Hope that helps.

I was wondering though as I had both too,But the first texas one I could only run my sensitivity to 6 with out falsing. And my los banos I could run wide open if conditions warranted. I always wondered if all first texas machines were like this or I had a bad one? And yes the los banos wide open was still a little deeper than the first texas at 6. I know that was the case with most of the digital CZ-70 pro's that sensitivity could only be run at 4. But all the los banos analog CZ's I have ever had I could run wide open. Anyways are you saying both CZ-3Ds can be run wide open with no falsing? If so maybe they fixed the problem or I had a bad one.

setting your Sens on around 4-3/4 is maximum depth. Raising the Sens any higher just simply increases the volume of deep targets..........giving the illusion that depth is being increased. This is true MOST of the time. Yes, there are some soil conditions whereby....increasing Sens above 4-3/4......and a bit more depth is gained. This is somewhat rare......but does happen with certain soils.

got it back today,,, but the connector on the coil is Bad. Tom says my unit will hit a clad dime at 12.5 inches in his test garden,,,, BUT I CAN'T USE IT YET AAARRRRGGAAAA!!!!!!!

That's funny thats the second one I have heard of coming back from Tom with a problem? Is this a coil you sent him or a different one? I know he is the best ,But it is just strange?

this coil was broke and I tried to fix it,,,, my soldering skills need help and he said the connector itself needed to be replaced,,,but he has no parts,,,,

Thanks for the reply! First let me say I by no means was implying it was Toms fault. He is the CZA-3D guru, I was more or less curious to CZ-3D 1021's in general. It looks like I will be sending my new one to him as the catagorys are wrong and the deep signal is smeared sounding. I was afraid of this not so much as it is a first texas machine ,But CZ's in general are so unpredictable. It seems like they are hot and perfect or really screwed up. That's the reason I got an E-trac to begin with because my CZ was going back and forth to First texas I needed a new machine to get some detecting in before the season was over. It turned out to be the best move I made as my E-trac is rock solid smooth and the best deep silver I.D. machine I have ever owned. But I still have a soft spot for''Properly working'' CZ's.

well I got it figured that if the unit is hip mounted,,, that makes the coil connector the FIRST thing that hits the floor when you take it off and set it down. That is what killed mine,,,
