I need to throw a question out to all you 3D users out there, for some reason, in enhanced mode, whenever mine locks onto a target in high tone copper area, it ALWAYS seems to be junk, usually rusty metal. Sometimes I still dig in that facet, hoping it`ll be something good, but it NEVER is. Now im not saying that Im not finding stuff with this machine, im finding plenty of great coins, but why would that high tone facet bring in only junk? You would think coppers come in that area, but out of the 7 large cents ive found this year, and the 20 indian heads, they were all far right hightone.
Im just wondering why it wont seperate this stuff in that facet. I thought the 2 far right enhanced high tones were supose to be the good stuff. Ive used this machine long enough to change the batteries 15 times, but not once did I ever dig anything in that area worth keeping, maybe I missed something in the book, i dont know.

has anyone ever found anything in copper enhanced mode worth keeping?

I believe the facet area you are talking about is the zinc area. The one with the star in it?? In the enhanced mode copper will fall in the high coin area the same as silver. In my opinion only...I think of the zinc area in enhanced mode as the relic zone. Mixed metals with possible value fall there usually. I have found tokens, sale tax mills, small brass items and some cheap rings with that reading, but mostly junk like yourself. At older locations I dig all, at the park I dig only the deeper ones. It would be good to hear some others input on this one, great machine.

Nasa Tom has a forum http://www.dankowskidetectors.com/discussions/ and perhaps you could ask this question on that forum to get an expert answer from Tom..I understand the theory behind the CZ3D but personally prefer convential CZ's and yes the CZ3D does operate as it should for old and new places if its properly tuned and facets set up to Tom's specs.

I have only dug a few targets in that zone and they have always turned out to be trash. I may have to start digging more to see if I can establish a pattern.

On the CZ 3d we have 7 zones,, IRON,,,RD.Tab,,,,FOIL,,,,SQ.Tab,,,,Nickel,,,,,Relic,Zink,,,,,Cent & $...... And I think you are talking about Zone 6 right ?
ZONE 6 is what I call Relic in the Enhanced mode and ZINK in the Salt mode....

Below are 3. pictures, 1st. is the face of the 3d,,, and the 2nd. is a picture of stuff that I have that read in the 6th ZONE in the Enhanced mode.,,, 3rd picture is the True order of Conductivity.
When the CZ was made, they did not use the true order of Conductivity. The CZ's have nickel up in the high tone range, when on a scale of Zero to 100, a Nickle reads like 25 ot 30 + or -.
If someone had a CZ 3d and like a MXT with zero to 100, maybe they could figure out the CZ Zones, from what to what each Zone was,,like how wide is the Relic is and how wide the Nickel zone is.
But in the pictue of stuff that I chacked and the stuff read in Relic zone 6....

All I do when I hunt a old lot, I dig everything above low tone...Ever wonder why the guys that don't have meters dig so much trash and yet find so much good stuff.
Some got mad at their CZ 3d or and CZ and traded it off, it is only giving you a idea of what something is in whitch conductivity zone...

I have read posts like, I had a CZ 3d and went back to the CZ 5 because I was digging more trash, true in a way, BUT what was the CZ 5 calling trash that was a coin that did not have enough conductivity to make it into the right zone...
I saw a Barber dime that read in and out of the ground as a Zink penny on a CZ 6a,CZ 5 and a Whites Classic ID...
I dug a 1898 "V" nickel that read Foil on 2 different units, in the ground.
This is why I run zero disc, I want to hear the iron and rusty nails. Your best DISCRIMINATION is your DIGGER...
The more trash that you get out of a site, the better chance you have of finding something that was masked by JUNK or TRASH.
Some one like Tom could explain it better.
Hope this answered your question.

i would like to chime in here and make this comment!..i agree 150% with everything you say,and as a hunter for over thirty years, the masking of z'coins by trash is a very "real" situation, but to be perfectly honest,(may i preface my statement by saying this DOESN'T apply to me!),when ANYONE pays in excess of hundreds of dollars for a metal detector,MOST folks want to find coins and jewelry with it,and DON'T want to dig crap!.period!..now as we both know this is NOT REAL WORLD HUNTING,however they don't give "two s***s about that because they have PAID a large amount of money for the detector!..that being said,it DOESN'T mean "squat" what you and i think of their hunting tecniques, and what they SHOULD,and SHOULDN'T do when they are in a park,or ANY other public area that holds tons of trash,WHAT they want is to find something good with the detecor!..period!.to justify spending that kind of money on the hobby!..finally if they DO NOT find good stuff with it ,especially if they get "skunked" alot, then we all knows what happens, all of a sudden they need money for this and for that, and it gets gone!
unfortunately, that's the way it is,and nothing we can say, or demonstrate is going to CHANGE that!

This guy is using a late 70's A.H. Pro Back Packer and he is 70 years old, he does not know what a meter is.
In this site he has made some dang good finds, 1921 or 22 peace dollar, 1889 half Pennie, not as good as the one in the picture.
I have hunted with him for years and he has used the A.H. pro for years. A Bounty Hunter will go deeper than his pro.
After years of using the same detector, he knows what its telling him...Yes he digs a lot of trash, but so do I.
I just go to have fun and hope I find something good, I like good junk to.

Well, dont get me wrong here. I love my 3d, and yes it is the zinc zone im referring to. I check the size of the target, I check it both ways, it just always seems to be trash in that zone. maybe I just havnt dug or passed over something thats convinced me to dig everything there. Im up to 7 large cents for the year, if youve seen my posts on Tnet youll remember the belt and breast plate found right in my back yard. countless buttons, an 1876 seated half. ive been cleaning my county out of good finds, I guess ill just have to dig more trash, simple as that. I was just looking for some feedback on what people experience in the zinc-enhanced zone.
and thanks for everyone who replied.

a true hobbyist!..the only way to really enjoy the hobby is to have an understanding that you ARE going to dig some junk with ANY detector..as you so eloquently
put it,your friend has mastered his detector, and KNOWS it's electronic language, and what it is telling him!..a hobbyist who has taken the time to properly understand the equipment he is using is a "deadly" hunter indeed,,REGARDLESS of the age of the detector!

sometimes digging some trash is the ONLY way to know for sure if you have passed something up that is good!..no detector is perfect, and they ALL get fooled, because of the SIZE and electrical characteristics of the object detected.sounds to me like you are doing a great job overall!..i would be happy with the finds you have mentioned!..

hi b.j!
i usually hunt very old parks and "sidewalk easements!"..tons of trash, but 350 years of coins too!.(hopefully!)

You can not afford to pass up anything in them old places....We don't have much history, only been a state 101 yrs....
The older coins were brought in and lost....

i hear ya!..been at it a long time, and now i live or die with the f-75!..cant afford any more of 'em!

what keeps me going is KNOWING that i WILL find something desireable when i coin hunt!..it is what keeps me focused on the hobby, and the "physcological" need to find "old" coins!..digging "some" crap is part of the overall experience, and has NEVER kept me from engaging in the "hunt!"..the anticipation of "knowing" that something very old ,and valuable IS out there waiting to be found is ALL i need to get "cranked" up and go!..like the energizer rabbitt,i just keep goin, and goin, and goin!..the rover is correct in that fishin' and metal detectin' ARE the same!..the "thrill" IS in the "HUNT!"
