cz3d in enhanced mode...

I've been airtesting a cz3d with different coins using both the salt and the enhanced modes. Now remember this is inside on a basement cement floor with all sorts of interference from lights, wires, etc... so I'm not too worried about depth. But....I ran a V nickel past the coil in salt and it gave a high coin signal and the meter read nickel. When I swept it past the V in enhanced mode it gave a mid tone and read foil. Is this normal or is the test skewed from being done indoors??
Also a steel 1943?? I think wheatie rang in as foil also. Thanks in advance and HH. Bob.

First and foremost go out in the backyard properly ground balance and do your testing as the enviroment you are using is not condusive to accurate testing..
If it was the just the opposite would be working correctly as V nickles read lower and the enhanced mode is set up for old nickles and they read lower than Jefferson nickles.
In the salt mode its possible for an old nickle not come in as nickle but perhaps a foil to nickle bounce but a jefferson nickle should read nickle..Basically it appears your calibration is faulty but would try several old nickles first before we jump to conclusions as the mettalic properties of older coins were not as accurate rel their mettalic content coin for coin compared to newer coins. Think of it this way Tom Dankowski setup was enhanced mode for old coins and regular(salt) for newer coins.
Google Tom Dankowski and you should find an excellent article he has written rel the CZ3D which explains all of the above and he does have a forum to further help you out.

I have the Dankowski book and video and just have to find the time to get out before winter and put it thru it's paces. Too many detectors, so little time!!! HH. Bob.

Hi bob be careful with them nickles they read all over the place in real ground a foil nickle bounce is not uncommon, on my 3d older buffalo's and V's are strange, corrosion is probably the reason, if it's over 4in i dig foil signals too, found a 1912-s V that gave me foil all the way all directions 7in of ground HH

Old nickles V-buffalo, shield because of composition and time in the ground just read lower especially if deep..Thats why the 3D is set up to catch them in advanced mode(old coins) whereas in regular mode may come in foil..

Yeah, mine acts a bit funny on buffs & V`s, been hunting a small old park for about 3 years now, this place has produced many old finds. passed my 3D coil over every square inch of this place. Then one day I decided to use my Whites Spectrum here and Whammo!! 2 V nickels in one day. My 3D is great on large cents at 8+ inches down, but literally sucks on older nickels4"down. Ive been working this little park for a while now, almost every pulltab and bottle cap is outa there because ive been digging everything, but yeah, it was pretty disapointing knowing my 3D didnt catch these 2 V`s,...funny how it works great on everything else,
buttons, indians, deep silver, LC`s, I think i need to get some flags, go over an area with one machine, mark it,log its reading, then once more with the other just to see what the differences are. If i get a solid hit in all directions? i dig! and its not as tho im using the wrong settings either, read the book, read the posts and articles and saw the video....so i guess my new opinion is that its not that advanced on older nickels. Im hoping my opinion will change as more finds become available so i can blame it on mineralization or something. but i guess time will tell.
