CZ3D coil comparison

Can any of you experienced CZ3D users tell me how the depth of the small hockey puck coil compares to the standard 8" coil
and compare depth of the 8" coil to the 10" coil. I would really appreciate reading your experiences. Thank you.

Remember in most case the sens. can be raised with the 5 inch coil but in most cases around 6 inches of course depending on the size of the coin remember going to pick up a large cent deeper than a silver dime...As far as the 10.5 depth increase is minimal with perhaps an inch or so, however the coverage is greatly increased and for some reason likes coins on edge..Good luck with your new toy Dave and doubt if its any deeper than the CZ70 that you used for several years...

With the large coil and bad mineralization such as salt seashore might have to lower sens. and get no depth increase but the coverage will amaze you,,

Hey Dan: I went detecting for the first time in a year since my accident. Went to one of my late 1800 early 1900 Retreat camps that I and many other detectorists have gone over many many times. I used a used but brand new looking CZ3D that I just purchased from a gentleman on the internet. I had a great time. Working in the "enhanced" mode with discrimination on "0", sensitivity at "8", yes I said "8" with some static that I didn't mind. With a slow sweep speed using the standard 8" coil I found 2
Barber dimes with readable "Liberty"; 1915 and 1916 no mint marks, one crusty, date unreadable Indian, a small sterling ring and one crusty wheatie. Since the camp is still in use during the summer months, I did get some memorials and clad. I am s o o o o
impressed with this older model CZ3D. If this means anything, it has the 1021 serial number. For me, it was the perfect day.
Thanks for listening. Wish I knew how to post photos. Like the old saying, "you can't teach the old dog new tricks". Dave.

Nasa Tom sure had some good ideas with the CZ3D and although your CZ70 is similiar in operation perhaps his new CZ concept is a new trick or two. In any case still not sure about the ser# thing and know of several cases where CZ3D's built by the new Fisher worked quite well up to spec's...In addendum enjoy Dave...

Every once in a while I take the small coil off of my 3D and try the 8" or 10" coils. Sometimes I can last 30 or 40 minutes before I remember why I don't use them and put the small coil back on. The small coil is actually deeper, in the ground around here.

Dave,
Glad to hear you are back to swinging a coil. I have a CZ6A ... with the 5 inch I sometimes get the bell overload with a quarter on or very near the surface. I wouldn't get the overload bell with the 8 inch coil on a quarter on the surface. Don't know if the CZ3D is similar in that way or not. Enjoy the CZ3D!

The 5 inch hockey puck coil can give the overload signal at larger coins with any CZ model so be careful when using this coil. As far as other coils overloads are far and few between with similiar large coins and is not a problem...
