CZ3D Beach Questions

HI:

Have a mulitude of questions about this detector. Last year in the Fall my wife bought me this one as I had just come back from deployment and wanted something to do on my off time. Now the machine is used but is in pristine condition, we both know the person who used it very reliable guy.

Question 1: I am looking at going to the beach sometime this summer and is it safe to have the coil in the water? I dont want to ruin this wonderful machine. A fellow MD, did suggest putting on a "Shower Cap" to protect it from the beach. He said it is cheap and it works. Unfortunately I only see him at times when we are detecting.

Question 2:How do I go about getting an owner's manual for this machine.

Any MD in the UpState New York area let me know...always looking for some hunting buddys.

You can get the manual by going on to Fishers site and looking up the machine. I use my 3D in Long Island sound and in the local lakes. No issues with the coil. Just keep the box dry. Welcome home dude. Thanks..Good job.

CZ's are surely one of the best beach units around whether it be fresh or saltwater enviroment..Do be careful in or near the water as although the coil is waterproof one wave or perhaps a slip and drop and your unit is gonzo as electronics and water don't mix.
Might consider the CZ-21 if you a do a lot of hunting in the water. As far as the manual easily downloaded from the Fisher site and
do read it several times especially the ground balancing instructions as very important to get the Max. out of your unit....Join the club as you have a user friendly depth devil...One more thing watch that foil segment as it covers a lot of woman's thin gold rings with nice stones.

The CZ3d is an excellent beach machine. You could look for a Minelab Sovereign hipmount to protect your baby. It is a perfect match. If you get
tired of swinging the stock coil check out the Sunray Invader FZ-12 coil for more coverage. Everyone has their own style, but I like to hunt in all metal which is
autotune on the CZ3d and check in Disc mode. Get yourself a good set of headphones and you will be set. Go here for the owners manual http://www.fisherlab.com/hobby/op_mans.htm

Hey Southern Boy, First thing, W-E-L-C-O-M-E H-O-M-E, VERY GLAD YOU MADE IT BACK SAFELY!! Secondly, if you want an OFFICIAL MANUAL, contact the new owners of FISHER ELECTRONICS, and that company is named FIRST TEXAS METAL DETECTORS I believe!! I'm sure they would be willing to send you a free copy!! But, if they talk about charging you for same, TELL THEM that you just got back FROM BEING DEPLOYED, and I would EXPECT THEM TO SEND YOU A FREE COPY OF MANUAL. This would be better, than a copy, just in case you ever want to sell the detector!! Final but VERY IMPORTANT, SCROLL
THRU this CZ FORUM, and pay PARTICULAR ATTENTION to any posts by VIRGINIA BEACH MIKE!! He has posted the EASIEST TO READ/UNDERSTAND
INSTRUCTIONS on GROUND BALANCING a CZ Metal Detector. Make sure you down load these instructions, put them in a CLEAR PROTECTIVE DOCUMENT POCKET SLEEVE from any office or stationary supply store. Then FOLD-IT in half, and carry it with the detector for FUTURE REFERENCE!! ACCURATE BOBBING Ground Balancing gets you PEAK PERFORMANCE out of any detector!! Hope this HELPS YOU, BEST OF LUCK, HH, NamVetLesTreasureSeeker

The 3D works great at the beach. You should be able to find a manual at the Fisher website. Here's a couple of tips for beach hunting.
1. Get some headphones. They're a must have on the beach.
2. Yes, you can submerge the coil. However, you will find that swinging the coil while it's under water is about 10x the work of swinging it out of the water. Go hunting a couple of hours either side of low tide.
3. Get a sand scoop. You'll recover stuff faster and save your back.
4. Dig everything. It's just sand and you have a sand scoop.
5. Some people probably are going to disagree with this but remove the coil cover if you have one. With water lapping over the coil, crap will get down inside the cover. It can then move around and give false signals. I learned this one the hard way. The false signals got so bad I though the machine was broken.
6. Check out the websites of some of the regular beach hunters. I'm in Colorado and I'm lucky to go for more than 5 days a year at a salt water beach.

Southern Boy, I'm an AVID BEACH/WATER Detectorist, and I think ANDY COVERED ALL THE BASES!! You DEFINITELY NEED A GOOD SET OF HEADPHONES, and a Metal SAND SCOOP!! UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, DO YOU WANT TO GET THE CONTROL BOX W-E-T!! So, JUST LIKE YOUR DEPLOYMENT "STAY ALERT" for ROUGE WAVES, EVEN IF YOU GO INTO VERY SHALLOW WATER!! Best of luck, hh, Les Robinson

Get the biggest seal-able plastic bag you can find and fit that around it and use duct tape where needed-even just being in the salt air environment. If water gets inside its as good as gone:stretcher::fisher:
