CZ21 w8" or 10"

going to purchase a CZ21 and cant decide on 8" or 10". I live near the beach and hunt it the most. I would like to water hunt some. Is the 10" harder to control in the water and if so how much harder. Also I am going to purchase an Anderson rod and mount the control box by my elbow.

What is the wave action and target density (trash and good targets) like where you hunt most?

My 2 cents: I have an 8 inch coil on my CZ20. A while back, briefly had a 10.5 that I used on a CZ6A in the real shallow stuff (ankle to calf deep). In the wave breaks, the drag on the 10.5 inch coil is a good bit more than on the 8 inch. The thick profile of the coils doesn't help. For me there is plenty of drag on the 8 inch coil. If I were only hunting protected bays and inland lakes with little to no water movement, I'd consider a 10.5 inch CZ21. If you ever hit a trashy area, the 8 inch is a better choice than the 10.5 inch. Depends mainly on your hunting conditions. I lean towards the 8 inch.

I prefer the 8-inch in all hunting situations except for set sand beaches with little trash. The 8-inch will get you really deep when you get used to what to listen for and it is much easier to handle in waves and shallow water and you will appreciate the narrower pattern when digging blind with a scoop in shallow water. I'd get the 8-inch for certain.

yup, really depends on your hunting environment/style. I snorkel-detect in 6ft water and the 8" is fine, but I prefer a larger coil for coverage since the drag isn't that much worse when underwater...the control box drag is more of an issue underwater. I always alternate between my 8" CZ and Excal w/hardwired Sunray S-12 depending on whether my beach is clean or dirty.

Go with the 8" coil. Your swinging arm will really thank you, and pinpointing is very easy.
