CZ21 update..........

A vender has pushed us back for a part needed for the CZ21.

Initial reports were for a possible release delay of October 1.

We will work with the vender and could have this time cut down considerably---possibly the first week of September.

Information regarding changes will not be readily available to end users until release of the CZ21.

The official word at this time on the CZ21 is that it will be an improvement from the CZ20 and that the forecasted release date of August 18th has been pushed back to an unspecified date.

Retail price is 8 inch $1099----10.5 inch $1149

Thanks

Mike Scott

"an improvement from the CZ20", well owning two CZ-20's I wonder what the "improvements" will be. I see very little upside in keeping them a secret, and a good deal of potential downside. It would not have hurt to solicit opinions on various forums as to what current users would like to see changed.

There are two obvious changes that most CZ-20 users would like to see:

1. Provide a switch, (possibly a small waterproof toggle switch in the battery compartment), to switch in and out of saltwater mode.

2. Take the bloody nickel range out of high coin tone and put it in mid-tone where it belongs. This is a beach machine, we're looking for gold, NOT clad!

Making the above changes accomplishes about 90% of what's needed to make CZ-20's even better.

If better iron ID could be had, OK, but experienced CZ-20 users have generally learned the drill on ID'ing deep iron and BC's. FT doesn't need to go crazy reinventing the wheel on this product.

The original CZ20, it will be a serious buttkicker! I don't recall any company releasing specs and real photos way ahead of release. Word about the development of the CZ21 probably leaked out a little early, so we're all chomping at the bits to get to see what it's gonna be like. All I know is that if Dave Johnson (who developed the original)is working on it, you can count on this: It will be at least as good as the CZ20...and that's saying something! :)Any improvements or new options would be icing on the cake! I would bet they're using this time to work out any problems, so patience will end up paying off for us in the long run. I don't have a water machine right now, and I can't wait to see what the CZ21 has in store! :)

I disagree, releasing info prematurely on new products in the past usually led to more problems than it was worth. Too many people out there with that "agenda" thing going on.

FT/Fisher may not have the best marketing dept in the world but they have (arguably) been giving us detectors that are worth the wait!

Tom

You are right on here Jackpine! Fisher is doing this right. They are taking the time to do this right. I would rather wait 6 months to have a quality, technologically advanced piece of equipment, than have a bunch of empty promises and a cheap piece of junk and problems, with a new unit. I assure all of you the unit will be worth the wait from Fisher's top brass.

I work in an industry, where the competition is more fierce, than this industry (motorsports). The manufacturers are absolutely zipped, until the dealer show on new models. They do not want to give an advantage to the other manufacturers on what to expect. It's to protect their best interests. We will reap the benefits of the wait, lets be patient and reap the coming harvest! GH

I'm just repeating what I've heard from various sites and posts. I imagine we can assume with the "CZ" in the name it will hopefully be a continuation of the legendary CZ circuitry Dave Johnson designed initially for Fisher. The CZ-20 was well known for its tank-like construction and durability, as well as excellent detection depth in salt water environments due to its dual frequencies. I know a LOT of people were disappointed when the CZ-20 was dropped from the Fisher line-up prior to the First Texas purchase.

The CZ-21 could be the "new" Fisher's way of making a statement that they are responsive to the wants and needs of the hobby. In my opinion, that's a very cool thing! A big company that listens to what "we" want.

I've heard several different release dates tossed around by various folks, but I'm sure Fisher is testing it thoroughly to make sure there are no problems. I would imagine there's a huge number of factors that come into play when building waterproof detectors!

I agree. Put the nickel where it belongs for hunting gold. Hunted with a CZ20 for 12 years. It had id but the nickel killed it. Don't want to hunt clad coins in the water. I want gold.
