cz21 in fresh water

Fisher's freshwater machine is really the 1280x Aquanaut which is a single frequency unit that the Tesoro Tiger Shark would be more likely compared to in the Fisher lineup.
The CZ-21 is a multi-frequency unit more compared to the Minelab Excal, but will defintely still work fine in freshwater, but is really overkill for freshwater. The 1280x is not quite as pricey, and it is all that you would need in a freshwater machine same as the Tiger Shark. All 4 mentioned units are all top shelf water detectors. Bought new you are looking at over $1000 for either the CZ-21, or the Excal being a little higher in price. The 1280x and the Tiger Shark are just over 1/2 that price.

hope this helps you out,

Have not had a Tiger Shark but have Tesoro land detectors; and have ventured into the shallow water with them.

CZ is an excellent fresh water detector. Based on what I've experienced with the land detectors and CZ's, the CZ gives away a little in hitting very small gold such as very thin chains or the smallest of stud earrings. CZ should be a little deeper overall. That said, there are a lot of variables that change from location to location that affect things as well as how well you know the detector you are using.

So my two cents: If there is any chance you will ever hunt salt water, I'd get the CZ. If it will all be fresh water hunting, I'd think it is a matter of preference in hunting style, the very small gold that the Tiger might hit (as well as all the small aluminum foil wrapper pieces) and what you like to listen to: single low frequency beep (I've heard the Tiger Shark beep described as a quack), or three tone target ID.

Don't think you can go wrong with either for fresh water.
Cheers,
tvr

P.S. tiggar is correct with the comparison to the 1280X for fresh water.
