CZ21 IN ATLANTIC CITY

I'm heading to A.C. this weekend & looking for some pointers.I'm staying@ the Showboat. Any suggestions on locations to try, tips or CZ settings would be appreciated.

The beach right in front of your hotel is just fine. The beach South of that is good too. Not sure what the beach looks like there, but if it has been stripped back, there may be iron all around in the wet sand. In that case hopefully you have the smaller 8 inch coil than the bigger 10.5 inch. The smaller coil acts better in the iron.

Don't run sensitivity too high (2-3). Ground balance and run in discrimination mode 0 ( yes, ZERO). You do NOT want to discriminate out the iron. You want to hear it and listen for it. Running in 0 will also allow you to not get fooled as much by deeper iron and iron that wraps into the high tone area.

Go slow, and when you get a target, sweep from all angles to make sure it's a repeatable high or mid tone.

I would stay away from digging low tones that ID as iron when sweeping from different angles. That beach can be a monster certain times of the year, when it comes to iron targets. But any low/mid tone bouncing targets that ID that way when sweeping from multiple angles, should be dug. I have found a few gold items that ID'd that way on that beach.

Have fun out there. It's a great beach to detect due to all it's history. Hope you find some old silver and some yellow to boot.

Thank you very much! That was exactly what I was looking for. Hopefully I will have something to show you when I get back. Thanks again for sharing your experience with me.

Last time wife and I were there (June 2012) the Showboat buffet was very good!

As therover says, 8 inch coil will be a better coil than the bigger coil if you are in dense iron. On some trips there, I've hit some of the dense iron in the block south of the Showboat.

Enjoy and I hope you get some good stuff. Last June I took some silver home from real close to where you are staying.

Last time I was in A.C., I found a huge mens 14K wedding band on top of the wet sand right on the beach in front of Showboat. Fortunately the guy who lost it the night before went back out in the morning to look for it. He came over to me and asked if I found a ring. He described it, and I pulled it out of my pocket and said here ya go. He wanted to give me some money and I said no way.

He went away flabbergasted that someone found it and was calling his wife on his cell phone as he walked away...shaking his head in disbelief. Glad I found it for him.

Unfortunately I have the 10.5 coil, Hope I can stay out of the iron.

CZ will tell you if it is struggling with multiple iron targets under the coil at the same time. You can try raising the coil a little as you sweep over the junky area to see if you can separate the targets. If you go a few blocks south, down by Bally's and even a little more south; on the trips I've been there, the iron has not been as dense in those areas as it was around the Resorts and Showboat area.
Cheers,
