CZ20 questions

I have recently acquired a CZ20, but need to know whether I can disconnect from the control box the cord to the coil. I don't want to make it nonwaterproof by doing so, but the cord is not tightly wrapped around the stem. Must I wrap it by taking the coil off the clevis, or can I unbolt it from the control box?
Secondly, the headphones have short stems which turn, but don't apparently adjust the volume or anything. Are these broken, or are they designed not to do anything? I have an instruction booklet downloaded from the internet, but it doesn't seem to address either issue. For example, it says wrap the cord around the lower stem, but doesn't say how. It also fails to address the knobs/stems on each ear piece of the headphones. Can anyone tell me, please? Thanks.

HI Reggie, your shaft should be in 2 pieces, upper half and lower half, one inside the other...there should be a chrome button on the side of the shaft, push it in and the lower half of the shaft will spin around and allow you to wrap the coil wire around the shaft.it also allows you to adjust your length by different holes.also the controll box will slide off the hand grip if you choose to hip mount it.and if your CZ20 is in good shape you now own one of the best ever made! HH

Thanks, Dixie Digger! I coulda, shoulda, woulda figured that out if I hadn't been so darn excited about finally acquiring the legendary CZ20! I can't wait to take it for a test and a dive.

The earphones have drain holes to let the water out and to equalize the pressure. The little buttons are there to minimize sand getting in and to keep wind noise down when you are not under water.

If you pop the plugs out you get a lot of wind noise. Put them back and it is much quieter.
