has anyone sealed the pinpoint button hole when the rubber boot goes bad..silicone seal or epoxy? Fisher will only convert it to a CZ21 for $300 i never use the pinpoint anyway.

i have seen posts where people have done it!! dont know if it was on this forum or one of the others. i should do it to mine!!!

I just took a lot at mine. I have worked with silicon many times, and it does not adhere to plastic very well. If I had your problem I would try to find a repair person who could remove the pinpoint button and replace it with a more permanent insert, or replace the rubber boot. There should be someone out there that can do that for you at a reasonable price.

You might try several thin layers of liquid electrical tape, it sticks to plastic cables well (maybe suspend unit upside down while applying so that the liquid does not flow into the push button and make it inoperative). Replacing that button is not an easy task and once opened if you don't seal it back right you won't know it's leaking until it's possibly too late.

i have no plan to replace the button.i dont need or use a pinpoint ..the rubber boot is cracked..i think i will just epoxy a thin piece of plastic like a poker chip over the hole and leave the pinpoint button in place.i will only be waste deep at most anyway.

Scuba Pro will do it. Make sure the unit is clean and dry, you don't want to trap moisture if it exists under the rubber boot for the pinpoint button. Scuba Pro is available at dive shops. Let it cure completely before next using the CZ. It's great stuff, but is not cheap....maybe $12. Been a while since I bougt my last tube.

Mistake! Aquaseal is the product that works. Repairs wetsuits, waders. My bad. Scuba Pro is a silicone. Sorry.

ok i sealed my pinpoint button.1st i cleaned the area with alcohol then filled the hole with liquid tape, then used plastic epoxy under and over a plastic coin...i wouldn't dive with it but wadding waste deep it should work.we will see!
