Ok, so far my button never tore. After reading the problems regarding the rubber boot I decided to do some preventive maintenance. Needed is Aquaseal, level and Popsicle stick.

The face of the unit must be upright and perfectly level because Aquaseal will flow to the lowest point when first applied. Once it has begun to cure it stays put. You can lookup the product to learn more about it. I did my dive boots too as they were developing wear and tear on the neoprene (top above the toes) from lining up my scoop. The pics should be clear enough to show what to do. The repair remains flexible and will last a long time. I sealed up my 10 inch coil with lots of silicone some years ago. A pain to remove and clean those coil covers.
