CZ20 battery lead short...

I seem to have a short in my cz20 battery connector pigtail. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes not. Is this an easy fix?? Does anyone on this forum work on cz"s?? Seems a little much to send it in to Fisher to make it into a cz21 for something so minor, when it works fine otherwise. thanks in advance for any help. Bob.

IF the short is in the battery compartment, you can buy another 9v end and solder it on the existing wires. I would NOT cut the wires off at the posts. IF its inside the unit it will NOT be possible to repair EXCEPT by First Texas. Unfortunatly THEY are the only ones that can make the unit water tight again. You are looking at a 299.00 repair and they will give you a one year warranty. I have never seen a pigtail go bad. Have you also tried another 9v battery holder? They run around 35.00.

This is the best info I can give you. Unfortunately IF its inside the main unit there is absolutely nothing you can do on your own and know it will again be water tight.

I have discussed this with Bob an old PC friend and is there any way to determine either of these problems comes to mind.....

Trying a new battery holder would be simple if you have a friend with one. A new connector would require cutting the wires and splicing it in. You can get one from radio shack. BEFORE I cut it I would call Felix at First Texas to be sure that will not be a problem if the short is inside the unit and they have to repair it. You can also plug in the holder with batteries and see if you constantly have voltage on the posts with a volt meter. Attach the meter and wiggle the wires with the batteries connected and see if you lose voltage. Hope its that simple
